dash sticky
I have a 2009 370z and my dash board feels stick and appears to be melting when it sits in the sun. Is there anything that can be done about this? I do use a sun shade.

Do you use a lot of armor all type of stuff on your dash? Might want to try a little soapy water to see if that gets rid of the sticky feeling. Not sure about the dash appearing to be actually melting though, never heard of that happening before (not saying it couldn't happen though).

I have an 09 and my car is subject to heats of over 110 on daily basis. Perhaps take the car to a car wash and see what they recommend? Or maybe some goo gone and a rag?

Hi,
My Z is from May '09 in FL and originally was from GA and FL for it's early life, and I have no sticky feeling on the dash. I don't use Armor All except maybe a quick touch up on my tires, (it fades in 24 hrs) I have quite a lot of it as gifts from well meaning but car ignorant family. I also use a windshield sunblock, I have the solid grey custom made one I think from Autoanything.com, not sure was a gift. |
Wait until a cool morning, then take a damp (with water) microfiber towel to your dash to give it a good wiping. My dash is never sticky.

My old Lexus got this bad, to the point where it left a tar-like residue on your hands if you touched it. I ended up pulling the dash out, sanding off the soft touch material and painting it. It looks like ****, but it's a track car so who cares. The Z has held up fine so far.

Sounds to me like there is a lot of Armor All or similar conditioner that the sun/heat is bringing out to the surface. You may be able to wash it off with soap and water, or it may be permanently sticky. Good Luck and keep us posted...

the 370z dash is a much better material. try a wet rag to clean it with then apply some 303 aerospace protectant on it. |

yah, armorall is garbage. dont use it.
clean it all off using rubbing alcohol or some car deterent you have for interior. then get Aerospace303 or Prima Nero and use a 50/50 diluted solution with water. spray onto towel and wipe on. |
