Excessive Heat Coming Through Floor Vent
I have excessive hot air coming through the floor vent. It only happens when I have the climate control off.
It gets hot enough for my right foot to get very warm and spreads across to my other foot as well. On long drives, it can get uncomfortable. Any one else experience this......looking for cause and hopefully fix. Thanks. |
I could be wrong, but I believe it is normal to get pretty hot down there. Then again I have never really paid attention to it.
|
It is normal, try turning just the temp dial over to the 60*, helps a lot in mine.

Do you know what Panzir is referring to in Post #26. "I ordered ZSPEEDS aluminum version with the oil change door-great product! As an added bonus the high temp in the car is all but gone. No brainer accessory in my book." I guess I can ask him directly. Just wanted to know if you were aware of this accessory. |
ZSPEEDS aluminum version of what? I just noticed teh same thing yesterday. It was 104 out with high humidity for this part of hte world and I felt like my leg was burning. I'd get one of these things if I knew what it was. Oh yeah, and I turned it down to 60* and it worked.

Probably talking about the lower engine cover/aerodynamic plate. |
This is something that seems to happen with all RWD cars I have ever been in. The whole center drive line gets warm, the metal is just conducting the heat from the engine down the drive line. Its not thing abnormal and is to be expected.
|
I'm confused how the ZSpeed underpanel affects the temps in question.
I guess if the temps really bothered you, some of the gold reflective foil around where the exhaust runs could help. So would putting some header wrap on the TPs/HFCs. Ditching the OEM cats should make a big difference, since cats retain a ton of heat by design. |

i just keep climate control on all the time. it's not like it's robbing that much power anyway on this car. |
We get lots of compaints about it on hondas as well, throw the AC on for a few minutes and blow the hot air out of the vents, will be good for awhile. the vents picking up heat from the engine bay either due to routing or its sucking in the hot air from the engine bay.

never paid it any attention on or off. guess i got use to it when i had the 350Z and chalked it up to it being a sports car, not some luxury car that has all the extra shielding and thermal barriers to keep that area nice and cool.

ZSpeed Aluminum Under Shroud
MDZOwner provided the link for the ZSpeed Aluminum Under Shroud.
http://www.the370z.com/body-interior...r-special.html I just ordered the Aluminum version one today. BTW, they only have the aluminum version in stock. The Black Powder Coat version is 3-4 weeks out. I called Joe at ZSpeed who advised the Black Powder Coat version actually retains more heat due to the Powder Coat process. Obviously my goal was to eliminate as much heat as possible coming through the floor vents. After installation, I will post my findings. |
Did the guys at ZSpeed explain how this has any effect on temps? I'm a huge fan of the product, but I'm not sure it has any effect on the temps.

This is a version 2 model. It offers other benefits as follows. 1. Direct access to oil filter. No need to remove the OEM for changing oil filter. 2. Allows for deeper oil pans. 3. Allows for Oil Pan Spacers. 4. Allows additional clearance for aftermarket swaybars. 5. Also has a drain hold for coolant. Again no need to remove OEM shield to access. |
