Default installing a camera to eliminate blindspots

I'm thinking of getting a rearview camera but i dont want to mount it above the licence plate like most cars. preferably, to mount it in a location where i can see the back half of the car and more importantly, whats on the side of the car as this is the achilles heel of the Z.
anyone tried mounting the camera 'high up on the back windscreen' to overlook the rear of the car?
