Paint chip advise
Hello everyone,
I got a 2012 nismo about a month ago and the previous owner tried to fill this paint chip on the hood. It looks like he used finger nail polish as it has a noticeable blob. I have Dr Chip on the way to repair this and a couple of others. I planned to go at it with some 1000 grit to smooth down the blob and then maybe a dental pick to get some of the old repair out before I use the Dr chip stuff. any suggestions on how to do it better? I have a pic of it but damned if I can figure out how to attach it. Thanks. |

Rather than using the sandpaper, I would use Langka's blob eliminator to level off the excess paint. It works very well.

Everytime you get a pint chip, just apply wax to keep the metal from corroding. When the body panel becomes too riddled with paint chips, just get it painted. It's not worth stressing over something inevitable. My 350Z bumper is almost due a facial.

I've had the same experience. It has leveled down blobs that have been on a surface for months. It takes a bit longer for the compound to break down the paint but it works well.
