Help! Door locks randomly unlock
My '09 Z is experiencing an issue where the door locks unlock on their own. This happens while driving as well as when the car is locked and I'm not around. Originally I noticed that the doors didn't unlock when I turned the car off but now this has gotten worse. Has anyone experienced this and know what may be wrong or how to reset this?
Thanks! |
Yep this happened to me about two months ago (As I was driving through the hood I might add). I freaked out at first, let my car sit there when I got home and then about an hour later, it was fine again and not a problem since. Try checking all of your doors and trunk to make sure it's tightly shut. Restarting fixed it for me after checking all my doors. If it is truly a problem that cannot be fixed, there is a way to disable the auto-locking system. If it's still giving you trouble after everything, try disabling and re-enabling the system.
I see you have owned a 350Z. Worst case comes to worst, you will have a similar locking system to that on your 370Z. |
i had a problem with my door locks always locking like over and over and over... you get the point anyways i have a 09 too so maybe its the same problem as mine they replaced the master switch and it never came back ever again

try using your second fob?

Funny this popped up, it happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was working in the garage and heard the car lock for no reason. I had just detailed it so I thought maybe I done something. It has been fine since so I didnt research it any further.

On another car I had this was an early sign the battery was going dead, not sure if it pertains to the Z but it doesn't cost anything to have your batt checked.

Mine is on a tender, so for me I can rule that out.

Could be an issue with the battery in the fob.

Update: everytime I press the passenger window button on the driver side door the car unlocks. Also, if I press the unlock button on the drivers door nothing happens, if I press the lock button it just stays unlocked.

Sounds like an electrical problem - bad switch, bad module, bad wiring, &c.
Check the bulkhead connector where the door harness connects to the body harness. Press on the door panel and armrest areas while operating the switches and see if that improves/exacerbates the situation. |
Update 2: I used the bottom of my fist to bang on the switch area and like magic it was fixed. I've been good the past four days. Thanks for all the help.
