Recaro says they made 'em........

Just throwing this out there...................

Per their website, Recaro says they made the seats that were fitted in the now-defunct Saturn "Redline".

The stock Z seats are just too narrow for me, (225 lbs, 6ft-1") and give me severe sciatica. I am going to search local junkyards, and hope I can find a donor car that hasn't had the windows left open.

I'm sure that with a little persuasion , they would fit, and being from an American car, they would be more accomodating.

If they can't be easily found, then plan B is to go to an upholstery shop and have them re-stuff the stock cushions.

Anyway, that's the plan. I'll repost the results, either way.

Do you have the touring or base seats?

SteveBad 07-07-2013 04:55 PM

Base seats. Very base.

Try sitting in the Touring seats, they are 150 times more comfortable
And FWIW, I'm taller than you and much fatter, lol and I gotta say that no car aside from a 7 series or S-class is as comfy as the 370

Btw, just because Recaro made the seats in that Saturn doesn't mean they're great quality, you never know if they contracted a company to make the seats for them, especially since its a production car that I think started at $20k

 supposedly the Touring seats are more "generous" (?) or at least different than the base sport version...

I haven't gotten anything but compliments on my touring seats from buddies who've sat in them. One of whom is 220 lbs and 5'11".
I'd definitely try them before seeking out the Recaros, since the products made for OEMs are usually lower quality than their main product lines, kinda like OEM Brembos vs aftermarket kits.

i have touring seats and have never had complaints on them even when ive taken my Z out to the hillcountry and driven it hard for a solid 150mile day driving out there, all through the hillcountry and back, its always been comfortable

im 205 6', and i find the bottom of the seat too tight. ive worn down the foam on the left side and now the edge of my @ss pushes against the seat plastic. im not fat nor could i (or would i) wear skinny jeans, but i dont fit in the base (nismo) seats either.
