Default Key Fob Issue/Tire Pressure Light

hello all. I just picked up my 11' 370z last friday and I have a couple issues that Im trying to figure out.First of all, I bought it from an infinity dealership so they didnt give me the runaround of the car or the various features (like you would get if you bought it from a nissan dealership). I also did not get a second key from them, but they are in the process of finding the previous owner and sending me one.

anyways, I drove the car home with the key in my lap and several other times with it in the cup holder. another drive the next day it said there was no key present so I put it in the key holder slot to start the car. now, everytime i try and start the car it is making me put it in the slot or it says 'no key'. did I turn on a setting or something? how do I turn it off?

also, I was getting a tire pressure light, so I filled them all up and the light is still on. how do I reset it? could it just be a bad sensor? thanks.

Sounds like the battery in the key fob is dying. I would first try replacing it and see where that gets you.

Any tire shop or the dealer will be able to take a look at your TPMS system and tell you what is up with it. Mine has never worked from day one either. If it could display tire pressures like the 350z could I would be more inclined to get it fixed.

Hi.

Sounds like the fob battery is depleted. Replace it.

Not sure about the TPMS. May need to go through a few drive cycles, may need to be reset, may be a bad sensor. If no one else comes up with the answer, I'll dig through the FSM and see what I can find.

If I may piggy back a related fob issue: I'm experiencing the same thing as the OP regarding the fob. Mine worked before but suddenly I was getting the "no key" indicator as well and now I need to have it in the slot in order to start the car.

I replaced the fob battery and can lock and unlock my car clear across a Walmart parking lot yet my car still doesn't see it when I'm sitting in it; still have to insert the fob into the slot to start.

Perhaps the OP will experience the same thing even after replacing the battery.

if you guys recently installed something that requires the center console to be pulled up, check the RF antenna connector that is located just around the e-brake handle area.

you will need to lift up the console a tad to see.

yeah I hope not. I mean it worked for several drives with it not in there. I put the key in the hole once, and now it always requires it. hopefully battery fixes the prblem.

I see that the previous owner installed the red GTR button. I wonder if when he put back the console if he didn't plug it back in. but that still doesn't make sense because why would it work initially?

Maybe the plug was not pushed in all the way and it just fell out? crazier things have happened. haha

I'd try the battery first - it's a cheap and easy job. If that doesn't fix the problem then I'd check the connector; the original owner may not have plugged it in fully and it could have come loose.

PS: The FSM is a great source of info and invaluable when troubleshooting. See link in my sig.

Same here. Worked great until it didn't. Thought replacing the battery would do the trick but no. Come to think of it, the fob was working long distance even before the battery change.

I did install a short shifter recently so I will definitely check the brake handle area today since my interior is still out.

if your interior is still out, then your antenna is outside the car. (wont work until you plug back in).

the GTR start button does not require the center console to be pulled out....

Haha we have the same issues. Tpms light won't go out. It's solid. All tires at 35psi. Does not blink so its not a "malfunction" pulling my hair out too

the spare doesn't have tpms transmitter inside, does it? the valve surely looks like a generic rubber stem.
