EVO-R Nismo High Wing fitment question
So I purchased a 2013 touring sport and had the dealership add in the factory nismo spoiler to the deal. I had dropped it off today for them to swap them out and got a call telling me that the new spoiler does not have as many holes as the sport factory spoiler. My first question is how does the dealership not know this before taking the existing one off. They also damaged the factory spoiler and have to order a new one. So I am not looking for a nismo type spoiler that will directly bolt to the existing holes. I looked up the EVO-R Nismo High Wing and it says it will direct bolt but only says up to 2012. Can anyone confirm that it will fit? I emailed thezstore.com but have not heard back yet. Any help is appreciated.

There should be no difference between 2013 and previous years.
So tell them to drill more holes. Just make sure they are not installing the Nismo S-tune wing. http://media.caranddriver.com/images...s-1280x782.jpg |
That actually looks like the one they sold me. Same one you can add when you Build and order the car. The car already has the holes, too many is what they are telling me. They said the new spoiler has less bolts than the factory.
|
Sounds like they got you a nismo s-tune wing, tell them to get you a true nismo wing! Good luck keep us posted!

:iagree:
Don't settle for the S-tune, unless that is what you want. |
Here is the reason for the difference in the number of holes. See how the S-tune wing sits just above the third brake light.
http://www.drivearabia.com/news/wp-c...z-s-tune-2.jpg Vs. the sport package wing, which sits over the third brake light. So it takes up more of the trunk. Those holes would probably be exposed if a S-Tune spoiler was in place. http://www.cardata.com/spoilers/imag...issan_370Z.jpg The true Nismo wing also sits lower, which would cover those holes. http://www.shelbournemotors.com/uplo...259bc5fb38.jpg Evo-r or Seibon wings would sit over the brake light like a true Nismo wing. |
Evo-R high wing uses the factory sport wings holes. It should be the same on the 13's since our ***' are the same. Pics in my albums if you want. Its a little larger than the nismo but still looks great with the lines of the car

Thanks for all the info! The dealership is going to put the factory one back on once they get the right color, since the snapped the one that came on the car. Yeah they ordered a yellow one instead of the black, so I have to wait another day. Serious have my doubts about the whole situation. I plan on ordering the GTR wing sometime soon and putting it on myself, plus it is half the price they charged. Any idea of a ballpark on what it costs to spray it? Also I was planning in going directly to the thezstore.com site or is there a better way to go through this site? Thanks again for all the info, should have checked here before even dealing with them for this.

So after all is said and done i have my car back same as I left it with the dealership. I am ordering the wing from thezstore this weekend. The body shop at the dealership was nice enough to offer to paint it for free after all the hassle I delt with.

Sorry the evo r wing not gtr. The one the dealership ordered ended up being the nismo s spoiler

Why did you have the Sport spoiler reinstalled if your planning on installing a different spoiler? You will break and damage the Sport spoiler again. You should of kept it off or sold it until you got the new one you want.
The EVO-R fits great no extra drilling needed. The body shop I had install it charged me $600 for paint and install, and they broke my sport spoiler and scratched my hatch! But fixed the damage but no comp on my broken spoiler. Oh well. |
It was not the nisno sport that was on it. The car came with the sport package spoiler, which is what they put back on.

The car came with the sport package spoiler non nismo. I purchased what I now know was the nismo s spoiler with the car and the dealership was going to install it. After they received it they realized that the nismo s spoiler would not cover all the wholes that the factory spoiler left. They broken it when taking off and had to order a new one and put that on. I am planning on ordering the evo one and putting that on myself. I would have liked to have them not put the other one back on but no garage to store car in while waiting for it to show up.

a good shop should be able to remove the old sprt spoiler wothout breaking/damaging it. When mine got removed the only "damage" was a tiny knick on the base of it. Not noticible once installed.
Def keep us posted om your evo r wing qhen you get it |
I have ordered the Evo-R Nismo High Wing from thezstore.com, but looking like it is going ot take up to 6 weeks to get it. After all the hassle at the dealership they have agree to paint it for free as long as I put it on. I am wondering if there is a diff place that I can order it from since it is going to take so long from the zstore? Any other reputable places that I can get this from, I have looked and found nothing. I have pmed EVOR on here also with no response. Any help is appreciated!

There are some for sale on e-bay. Search for EVO-R high wing.

I have the high wing. And im still waiting to find out what mounting bolts i need for it.
Does the bolts from the sports wing fit it. Thanks Z |
Does it not come with all the mounting hardware? I thought it came with the bolts and the double sided tape? It is my understanding that it will use the same holes and cover any extra that the factory sport spoiler used. Is that not correct?
|
IT DOES USE THE SAME HOLES AS THE SPORT WING. It was one of the main reasons for me getting this one instead of the siebon. The size difference is nominal but reusing holes that are already there and not having to drill new, big plus to me.
I'm fairly certain this has been said in this thread a few times, me being one of them and its been said in other threads also. If you read/search around a bit, you'll find all the answers you need. there are very few questions that are not already answered on this forum. |
The spoiler finally came and I got the dealership to paint and prep for free for all the hassle with the spoiler I purchased from them. They did not want to do the install for fear of breaking the factory spoiler again, so i am going to attempt this. I have searched the forums here and there are a few questions about install that I can't seem to find. What is the epoxy for that came with the spoiler? Guessing to hold the two pieces together along with the bolts, but I want to be sure. The bolts seem like they may be too long for mounting on the truck lid, so do I need to get shorter ones or just the same size and length that came to hold the two pieces together? I have ordered 3m tape which I figured I would need also. So any help is appreciated.
|
If I were you I would let a professional do the I stall, I know I would shoot my self if I attempted it and screwed it up.
|
I highly recommend letting a shop do it even if its not the place painting it. I believe the epoxy is for the center post so the spoiler doesnt flex up

Evo R Wing finally installed

So I decided to go ahead and attempt the swap myself after finding the service manual on this site. It actually went very well and did not turn out to be that difficult. I was also able to get the factory one off without damaging it at all. The fishing line trick worked out very well and I let the car sit in the sun for an hour beforehand to soften up the double sided tape. Here is a pic of the finished product. I actually had the tint done this past week also 20% solar guard high performance supreme if anyone is interested.

That looks great! I just got my tall box from thezstore too and kinda dreading removing my Sport spoiler and getting this thing painted. Have you noticed any difference in the stock struts' ability to hold the hatch open with the new wing? Did you use any of that epoxy included in the kit?
|
Thanks! The struts seem to be ok with holding it up, the only thing that I noticed was the initial opening of the trunk. After hitting the button, the hatch does quite open enough to actually open it, but simply pulling up right after it unlocks seem to fix it. If anyone knows what to do about that I would love to know. Yeah I use the epoxy on the center pillar of the wing, however not sure if it will really hold or not, we shall see with time. I looked over the factory nismo spoiler and that one has bolts that hold that together. The only thing that was a pain was that the fishing line broke anytime I hit one of the factory clips. There are seven of those and really the only pain in the whole process.
|
You can add 2-3 penny's or washers to the hatch springs to help hatch open up. Or add a rubber bump stop to bottom of hatch where spring hits.

I actually fed the fishing line around the first two and the rest just started to pop out. There are seven of them total. I might try the penny thing just figured there was some sort of factory fix for the standard nismo wing which weighs about the same.
