Wipers locking doors?? Dafaq?
So... I have this odd problem that I noticed randomly one day, sometimes (only sometimes) when my windshield wipers hit full stroke at any speed, they will lock my doors...
What? Let me say that again: Sometimes while driving in the rain with my windshield wipers activated (at any speed), at full stroke, they activate my door locks. Every wiper stroke would activate the lock (whether it was locked or not). I'm sure I can duplicate it but I'm wondering if anyone ever saw this before? Does it have anything to do with the replacement of my steering lock? Any incite would help! Thanks, Andrew |
:icon14: that is all.

Your car just went #fullretard
If it helps, back in the day, with my Mitsubishi gsx, the alternator caught fire. It ended up spiking the electrical system, and when I would turn on my headlights, the windows would go down. Then, in order for me to shut the headlights, I'd have to turn the car on and off again. Basically, the spike shorted out everything. Maybe you have a short somewhere. Good luck bud. |
Haven't heard that one before. Weird.
Could be a loose connector. The wiper motor may be loose and pulling on the wiring. Possible bare spot on wiring touching chassis. Keep us posted. I'd like to know what is causing it. |
Lets keep the comments to helping the Op as this is the tech section
Thanks, :ugh2: |
Your doors lock themselves automatically at a certain speed. It's around 15 or 20 mph I think. This sounds like a coincidence as to when you hit your wipers?

The way OP describes it, the door locks activate every time the wiper blade reaches its full stroke. You know how you can hear your door locks activate even when they're already locked? I think that's what he's describing.

ive had a similar problem except the wiper part.... the minute i got in my z started it and drove... the door would keep locking itself nonstop... even when my car was parked it would keep locking itself until the battery died, took it to the stealership and it was a faulty master switch thank god it was covered under warranty that was over 2 years ago and the problem hasnt come back since then... hope that helps
