Status seats in a week

Which Brides did you have? I rode in a 370z with the Stradia and they felt solid, my main objective with a seat change is creating more head room.

I can't remember. They were fixed-back blue ones that never quite fit me right in the shoulders. They at least were better than the Sparco I had before that never fit me right in the hips. Either way, I'll probably never have non-reclining seats in a car that sees rush hour traffic again.

Edit- they were Vios IIIs, or that seems to be the closest one that comes up on Google.

Yeah, seats are down the list as I still DD my car. Once the misses gets a new car and I can steal her Z for a DD, I will not care about certain comforts.

There is a video on their website, but I believe the Ring is the only FiA approved seats. That doesnt include the Ring GT and Ring GT-X

Found it: FIA Approved
And look at the comments on the blog post for Ring GT seats:

Awesome. If I ever retire the z from dd duty, it may get a set of these.

If you are using the ones that Status is providing, (Status side mounts, planted seat base, universal rails/sliders), you will seat a tad bit higher than stock even with the lowest setting.

Ok, good to know, might have to look at custom rails/mounts if I choose these in the future.

Planted seat base (brackets), status side mounts, universal rails.

Personally, I didn't like the seating position with the planted seat base and status side mount. Universal sliders also adds quite a bit of height.

With some research, you should be able to find a different brand that offers lower sitting position. I went with bride FO rails and it fits my "ring" seat with minor modification.

I'm almost confident that Status ring GT will fit bride FO rails. I have them on my ring seat and there was a bit of room left.

Ok, good to know. I wonder if I bug Status enough if they would start producing rails/mounts that lower the seat a lot.

I inquired Status regarding this matter and it has not addressed yet but maybe if enough interests is there, they might

There is almost nothing wrong with the side mount, and honestly, I love the look of the status side mount. It is somewhat brushed aluminum look. However, with the universal rails and planted seat base, it adds a god amount of height.

From what I understand, Status is not planning on making their own seat base with built in rails. But they may be working on it

Ok, since I don't have a picture of them on my album, I will try to explain it as best as I can

The side mount should should at least be 90 degrees to make the seat fit better.

If you are inquiring about the FO rails,

Bride FO rails

1. Perfect fit

|............| <- side mount
_________ <- Seat base and rails

2. Fitting Status ring seat

/............\ <- Side mount "slightly bent inwards
_________ <- Seat base and rails

***Although the signs I wrote up there is somewhat deceiving (angle) it is not that much bent. I would guess somewhere between 85 degrees ~ 80 degrees at most.

Congrats on the seat, you will love it!
Hope you didn't get the planted bases, in many cases they do not sit level. Wedge engineering is the preferred base from Status. My Ring seat has good clearance from the door panel, the Ring GT just hits it slightly.

The resistor fix for the airbag only works if you have drivers seat only. The passenger seat requires the resistor and the weight sensor. There is a thread on here where someone is attempting to make a fix for the weight sensor, nothing yet though.

Height is indeed higher than stock, noticably. Good info on the Brode FO rails, I didn't order them as I wasn't sure they would work with the Ring/Ring GT. Looking at the Wedge Engineering brackets, there is not much height to be gained there without a serious redesign. Perhaps the Status side brackets could have one more hole drilled lower which would bring the seats even with stock height.

The FIA certification is for the FRP seats only IIRC, which is a shame as the carbon and carbon Kevlar ones really are the way to go.
