Default GTR-style Monitoring System for 370Z

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows of, or can recommend, a GTR style system that uses the inbuilt display in the 2013 370Z's.. I was interested in the HKS CAMP 2 but since being discontinued, I haven been able to find anything close..

I really want to avoid having an extra display screen to keep a very 'standard' look inside..

Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks guys..

I have a Car-Computer (Windows 7) running in my car, and it uses a program called DashCommand which reads OBD data and displays it on a screen. Another member does the same, and he has a picture on the third page of my build thread here:

Car Computer / CarPC - Upcoming Build and Journal

That may be something you can be interested in. It's fully custom built by parts I sourced, and it's not too hard to do if you have experience in electronics and building computers. I'll take a couple pictures of my DashCommand setup when I get home tonight. It's got the GT-R style overlay too.

Another thing you may be interested in is a dedicated computing unit for that data readout, called Magden:

It's a dedicated computer that displays the data much like my personal Car-Computer, but it's faster and has better support. Unfortunately, I think they went out of business.

You will either have to find a used HKS camp 2, which can be done, they still sell the add on sensors right now so can still get extra read outs.
Likes the above poster, a carPC is a very viable solution, for you though, you just need to find a way to have the PC output in a cable you can use (probably need a converter.

Here's a couple pictures of how my Dashcommand looks in the car (apologies for the glare, they were quick and dirty photos):

This is the default skin for Dashcommand. It has features such as data logging, and the ability to read additional data such as boost pressure, air/fuel, EGT, etc. by purchasing additional hardware that links a sensor to the computer.

Concerning running it on the factory nav, theDreamer is correct. You will need a converter type module. There are very few, such as the ones from this website:

Car Video Interfaces. MOST Adapters. GVIF

And, they are limited in vehicle compatibility, but you may have to pour through wiring diagrams and see if it is possible to trick the monitor into accepting that signal. I think Magden figured out a way to do that, but like I said, they are no more.

Also! I just remembered that Blitz made a similar product to the HKS Camp 2, called the R-Vit DS:

GTM Motorsports*::*ELECTRONICS*::*BLITZ R-Vit DS VEHICLE MONITORING SYSTEM
(found it for sale on GTM, so you could probably give them a call or something)

That seems to work similar to what you want.
Angermiester and nomodsjk like this.

You don't need to buy an expensive car PC. Just buy a used tablet off ebay or CL. Then download the dashcommand app and install it in your cubby if you don't have nav. I did this all for $100!!

All you need is a cheap tablet (that fits). I went with an older (2011) style since it never is going to be taken out of the car pretty much. Get the $25 obdII Bluetooth reader and some magnets. DONE!

Carefull about 2 things. Buy neodydmium magnets as the ceramic ones from home depot aren't strong enough..learned that the hard way. Also, make sure the tablet you buy is Open Source or you wont be able to get dash command. Kindle, nook and those media based tablets don't have the app. accessible.

Lets just say I was looking at spending around $600 to get what I got for $100 and now I also have the capabilities of google maps to see where traffic is and can order a movie online and watch it on a road trip.

Hi guys the Gvif interface for the 370z comes with a pair of audio output rca's which are analog pass through only. Can these rca outputs be used as a preamp output to power and aftermarket amp that's only running subwoofers?

Can the light or the back ground be made to match the original red from the factory gages/displays? from blue to red?
