GOT RID OF THE NASTY SILVER Handles

The problem is unless you wear gloves to open your car and/or are really meticulous day in and day out, painted door handles will not hold up very well long

I removed the handles today with the guy who was tinting my windows. Just follow the instructions posted by 209Z, it really is straight forward. Only points i would stress are:

-Be very careful when removing the 2 screws behind the 2 rubber grommets, because they will fall into the door if you arent, then youll have to remove the whole door panel (which isnt too hard, but more of a headache). We used one of those pointer magnets to pull out the screws once they were unscrewed. When puttings these screws back in when all is odne, i tied dental floss to them in case they fell while screwing them in.

-When all screws are out, gently wiggle the handle to get it out of the door, its not crazy glued in, but its not going to just slide out easily. be gentle

-When removing the two screw attaching the wires to the unlock button, be careful with the back part of the handle not to scratch your door. Would be best if you had a friend to help you hold it while you unscrew.... They did put locktite onto these two screws which makes it hard to unscrew them!

----Driver door----
1. Open your Door and locate & remove 2 rubber grommets (black Rubber circles) right behind door handle. You can use a flat head..very easy.
2. unbolt the 3, 10mm bolts holding the door handle in. 2 on top hole and 1 on bottom hole. Be Very careful when unscrewing. Because screws can fall inside the door. So what I did was put plastic from a plastic bag alittle piece and put it inside the socket when unscrewing it will add some stickiness (ghetto) to hold the 10mm bolts easier.
3. pull up & out on the door handles. Drivers side is a little tough but be gentle.
4. You will see 2 wires. One for the Keyless entry and other wire to physically open the door.
5. unscrew the electronic key lock. There is a plate holding the button for keyless entry. Remove the plate held on by two screws. Be very careful the two screws has locktite.
6. Pop out the metal wire (simple) you will get what I mean when you see it.
7. Pat yourself on the back..hardest side is done.....(BAM CHICKAAA WAAAA)!

----Passenger door----
1. Same as Step 1.
2. held by 2 10mm bolts. One on top second on the bottom hole.
3. pull up & out on the door handles.
4. Pop out metal wire.
5. Same as step 5.

Once painted just do in reverse. Also when you have the handles off you will have 2 wires inside the door. One for the physically opening the door and the second for your keyless entry. Make sure to pop off the button on the keyless entry so you can paint that. Because you dont want a black handle for ex. And have the ugly silver button. It is really simple just pop it off literally lol.

Any questions or concerns please let me know. Ill try getting pictures up of the whole process. Some of steps might seem confusing but when you actually do the process on the car you will see what I mean lol. Hope this helps.

+ Rep If I helped in anway

Remove the door handle cable and uncrew the 2 phillips screws w/ plate to remove door switch. Re install those 2 screws so you wont loose them back on take them off when your ready to disassemble them. Remove door tumbler rod, just a clip. When you got the driver's side off remove the tumbler. It's retained by a 10 mm bolt. Remove the lil plate holding the rear full molding. Remove the black molding. Heres the tricky part you must put a flat head screw driver in the lil slot when the handle is completely open to keep it from closing. zip tie ito the main arm and anchor. This will keep it from closing and will help on holding it when your shooting it with paint. Then cut the zip to shoot the top. YOu will do this a couple of times to ensure all paint and clear is on. Unfortunately there is two square gaskets on the handle that will make the paint come off. I went to and cut those of a wrecked 350z and 3m glued it tomake it stick to prevent it from cracking the rest of the paint and two so it wonts rip the other gasket. Here's pics of the finished products.
wall of text runs you over and kills you.

other than that great post thanks..!
