how bout the one off a GTR.....?

Am I the only one who likes this car completely stock?...To each his/her own.

Think I prefer my silver handles, but thanks for the DIY...

I'm not real crazy about the door handles on the GT-R. To be honest, outside of the performance, I'm not real crazy about anything on the GT-R. That car looks dated to me. No offense to anyone that owns one.

+1. Looks great stock, so why change it?

My question is Why? Why would you remove the door handle?

First of it's not gonna be easy. YOu must first remove the 10 mm bolts on the corner (2) and one torx on drivers side. The passenger side wont have this. Remove the door handle cable and uncrew the 2 phillips screws w/ plate to remove door switch. Re install those 2 screws so you wont loose them back on take them off when your ready to disassemble them. Remove door tumbler rod, just a clip. When you got the driver's side off remove the tumbler. It's retained by a 10 mm bolt. Remove the lil plate holding the rear full molding. Remove the black molding. Heres the tricky part you must put a flat head screw driver in the lil slot when the handle is completely open to keep it from closing. zip tie ito the main arm and anchor. This will keep it from closing and will help on holding it when your shooting it with paint. Then cut the zip to shoot the top. YOu will do this a couple of times to ensure all paint and clear is on. Unfortunately there is two square gaskets on the handle that will make the paint come off. I went to and cut those of a wrecked 350z and 3m glued it tomake it stick to prevent it from cracking the rest of the paint and two so it wonts rip the other gasket. Here's pics of the finished products.

the body shop should be finishing mine up today and I pick it up tomorrow.

jose_o9 07-23-2009 08:45 PM

You asjed why sir?....because i am unique and i dont like anyone with the same car. I always want to have a special touch. Why settle for ordinary. My sense of style might not appeal to some but thats okay. My car is mine and i only need to please myself. I hope that answers much of you guys' question and comments.....think out of the box.

I wonder if they can be powdercoated with a black chrome finish - that would look cool with Platinum Graphite or Magnetic Black.

jose_o9 07-23-2009 08:54 PM

Im always thinking of new stuff. Ima powder coat it yellow. Then just paint the face. You need to have the lip powder coated when it comes time for tire changing. Wheels are just temporary to let everybody know.

Not to bag on your post, but looks are completely subjective. So unless someone does something really audacious like spinner rims, just let people roll with what they like :)

He probably "bagged" it because the title of this thread states that the stock handles are "Nasty." ;-) Again, subjective. ;-)

Yeah, but two people disagreeing about something subjective never leads anywhere. Neither one are going to change their minds. :)
