Has anyone tried this with door handles?

It seems that removing door handles (to have them painted to match the car) is a bit of a PITA. So I thought of maybe buying the EVO-R door handle covers and having them painted.

Any thoughts?

Plasti-dip is a good option and alot cheaper ;)

So what do I do? Drive without door handles while they are getting painted?

You can if you park your car in a area that you are comfortable with. :hello:

That's a good option. Thank you.

But would it not save me a step, if I just paint the covers?

You could pick some used pair from another member cheap, And once those are painted? switch them out and sell yours.

Just an option But painting by a shop is the right way to go.

I plastidipped mine. It's held up really well but I'm thinking of going the color match route. I found a place locally that'll do the whole job for $180... including removal and reassembly.

I did this back in January and it's still holding strong.

So why not just paint the covers. Are they crap? Do the fall of easy?

I realize all the other options I have, I just had this thought and wanted to see if anyone had the same thought.

The covers are just somewhat expensive; you'd probably be better off putting that money towards getting them painted. Much more likely to stand the test of time (unless you're leasing and don't plan on keeping the car. Then the covers are a good idea)

I'd like to paint mine too, I just haven't decided on what to do with the color. Mine is Gunmetal I was thinking of white or just shaving off the handles

Jordo! 04-27-2013 05:53 PM

If they're not that expensive, that's a great idea, if nothing else because its easy to undo if you decide you don't like it or want to sell the car.

Give it a shot.
