Who Hates the Silver Handles?
1 Attachment(s)
I painted my rays and now the biggest obstacle is the handles. It doesn't go together. I hate the finger print marks it leaves.

Paint them! so they blend in.

Yeah your best bet is removing them and having a shop spray them. OR if you want it chromed we can chrome them here. But that isnt far from the stock silver look haha..
You might even be able to get away with having a vinyl shop wrap the outsides in black or something. Not sure on that though. |
I don't mind the look too much but like you said, the fingerprints are just terrible.

I wonder how they would look with the black chrome... on a MB Z...? Hmmm..... |
Spray them body color. I photoshopped them black to see what they'd look like with black rims and they were even more of an eyesore. I am going to have mine done in solid red when I get my wheels done.

Anything is going to get tons of fingerprints, unless you come up with some new way to open your door. I guess the best look would be to paint it the body color, but i don't think that would be a cheap job. I want my wheels done in black too, but I think I will leave the centercaps silver. That way the centercaps and the lugs will make the door handles look more natural.

I have looked into taking off the exterior door handles via the service manual. Def not a DIY that I am comfortable with! You need to disassemble the entire door, interior panels, and remove the door glass to get to the handle from the inside of the door to remove it.
I am waiting for someone else to try this first... Nick |

If I can get a local person to come here for a few hrs. Ill remove the door handles and make a DIY on how to remove them so you guys can do what ever you guys want. Paint them black, take them to get painted, wrap them vinyl wrap or what ever.

I LOVE THEM! (Well, on PG cars).
On the Platinum Graphite cars (like mine), the lighter silver handles contrast really well with the darker grey of the paint while simultaneously pulling in the color of the wheels.
If you change the color of the wheels, then yeah, it won't work as well. I'm sticking with stock-colored silver wheels though as they compliment the car (which is one of the criteria for picking a wheel for me). |
