electric "noise" from window power switch
Every once in a while i have being noticing this high pitched electric 'noise' coming from the power switch while closing the windows. Sometimes I notice it when lifting the switch accidentally while the windows has already closed. Has anyone else experienced this? It doesn't happen often but I like to get it factory fixed, if there is anything wrong with it, before my warranty expires in 6000 miles.
Thanks |

It's probably not the switch making the noise. It's probably the control module or the motor. Could be mechanical.
What kind of noise? A buzz, a whirr, or a high-pitched squeal? A click, a pop, or a thunk? Happens every time you adjust the window position or only under certain conditions? Only when closing or does it happen when opening?

Most likely the window regulator based on your description.
If it's common, I would suggest taking the door panel off and pinpointing the culprit. A dead window in the down position is not worth the risk of interior damage from the elements. However, the part is like $250 bucks, so it might be worth it to just put up with it as long as you can. |

It high pitched electric noise. Happens only when closing the window, especially when I close the window accidentally when it's already closed. Doesn't happen often but....
I'm not that tech savy, and I still have warranty. So hopefully it breaks before the warranty expires. Do you think it's worthwhile to purchase extended warranty? |

No, I personally don't suggest an extended warranty for the 370. Big things usually break before the warranty period is over.
Just remember that extended warranties are prices so that the business makes money. Unless you drive a vehicle with known reliability issues in the 60-100k mile range that will make up the cost of the warranty, it's generally an unsafe bet. |

It depends. How likely do you think it is that a major component will fail after the warranty runs out? Can you afford to buy a new ECM, engine, &c 4-5 years from now if it does fail?
I started buying extended warranties when cars got complicated enough that I couldn't do much work on them.

my basic warranty expires in 6k miles, besides the window regulator (my friends' 2003 350 had it replaced), my car is too basic to have anything go wrong imo.
the powertrain warranty doesn't expire for another 20k miles, so if I ever encounter problems, then i would consider buying it. btw i do drive my AT pretty hard daily...hopefully the engine is robust enough to handle the abuse and wear. |
