Splash Guards or No Splash Guards

Nope, not me. I don't like splash guards on the 370. Much cleaner without them IMHO.

Well, uhm - my first post....

I'm from Germany and like this forum alot - nothing around like that here in Germany.

But I realize a very big difference in taste...
In Germany, most people actually dislike things like splash guards etc; it's a style of grampa-pimping the car. No real fan of a 370Z would put that things on. Same is with the clear bra thingie. But it's a big story in the States - interesting.

Ok, for the thread being a question to wether one like the splash guard or not - have a guess!

I apologize for my bad English - still learning.

Not even an option in Canada as far as I know.... have to go third party if you want'em. And I don't....

Functionally they don't protect much (a little small) but I like the look especially the rear ones - they make the rear looks more aggressive and less round.

Thumbs down Would Not Do It Again

Have them, but would not opt for them again, and here are the reasons why:
  • They change of the overall styling of the Z...not in a positive way.
  • Paint color does not match and looks to have been mixed by a drunken Nissan employee on a Friday. I have not seen any factory 370Z guards that have matched regarding the white color.
  • Too over stylized. The rear set looks like a one year old's snot that ran down his nose.
  • Overpriced.
The last two go hand-in-hand.

You can use a thicker clear bra material, and there has to be a much subtler, but as effective splash guards out there.

I just bought my Z 1 month ago and it had ~300 miles on it (09 model!) and it did NOT have splash guards on it. And I can see several scrapes on each rear corner where rocks/debris scratched the paint! I bought some and installed them. They are worth it, and I also think they look really good...

I was driving out of a shopping center driveway this morning making a right and I guess I was a little too far to the right and my right side fell off the curb and it sounded HORRIBLE, I tried to avoid the rear doing so but I failed horribly and thought my bumper probably fell off. I drove up and pulled over and got out to check...my splash guards were f***ed up and that's it

So they probably saved me what they're worth at least...Anyone know how much these are at the dealer? Right front and rear.

I've been debating splash guards since i bought my Nismo. I got a quote of $100 for front and $100 for back, and the dealer will charge $100 to install all four and add them to my warranty.

I'm going to decide by saturday morning, but I'm torn. I don't really like the look and off-colorness of them, they seem like they're 'tacked on', on a black Nismo. Right now, i'm leaning No. I'd rather save my $$ for an oil cooler.... we'll see.

After just over a yr of ownership, I finally decided to get rid of the factory pre-installed splash guards. Most members seem to consider the car looks nicer with them. I didn't think they look bad, but just prefer a cleaner look. And I must say I'm very happy to see them off my car now , except for those dust lines which I haven't got the time to wash off lol

Whoa, super bump. The first thing I did to the car was remove the splash guards. Same with my 350. Idk, from the side it just looks cleaner to me. And from the rear, the tires show more. Looks more aggressive IMO.

Haha this thread was kinda dead already, but lately I've been going back and forth whether to remove them or not. Finally I decided to get rid of them.

Mine didn't come with them but I bought them off two members here. They are a must for me, they aren't as obtrusive as some I've seen and they give a lower stance look to me especially when lowered. They are a must for any car I purchase.

Btw, after I took the splash guards off, there are holes left on the rear bumper side, and the bottom of front fender guards (where the push pins go for the splash guard installation). Anybody has any suggestion whether I absolutely need to take care of those or not? Would those cause any rusting?

Hmm, I think I replaced the screw on the bottom in the rear, but left the hole in the front plastic liner empty. Didn't seem like a big deal at the time.

From what I see, the 2 side screws also hold the side body kit, so I put the screws back after removing the splash guards. The bottom hole where the push pin goes seems to be through-and-through all plastic parts, so I would assume it's ok to just leave it be?

The rear bumper would have 4 holes on each side: 2 side holes (all bumper), 1 underneath (all bumper) and 1 more which would screw the bumper to the body. While I would assume it's ok to leave the 3 all bumper holes untouched, the 2 side holes looks kinda ugly......
