I just removed both LED's on my '13.....
I can tell you that the plugs have two wires each, and both plugs (Not the lites, just the plugs) are easily accessible simply by removing the plastic rivet at the upper side of the wheelwell. (See pic) Then peel the wheelwell plastic from behind the bumper skin so you can get your hand in there. The driver side plug is attached onto the DRL itself, the passenger plug is attached away from the DRL on a metal clip. (This is because the washer bottle hides the passenger side DRL).:hello: |
Anyone understand this post? I'd also like DRL on during the day and stay on with the headlights without installing a switch by them selves.

I thought it would be cool to have them on at night as well until I actually turned them on outside in a parking lot at night and took a look at them from a distance. God damn were they bright and blinding. I'm pretty sure you'd get pulled over by the first cop you pass.

I'm no electrical expert but what about a relay supplying earth to power the DRL's that's triggered by the park lights..?

Done!
While I was having an after market audio system installed (Kenwood 7" touch screen, Rockford-Fosgate speaker and amp) I mentioned to the installers about how I would like to have the DRL on when the heads are on.
One immediately started looking at that DRL issue and the other guy kept pounding out the audio installed. At the end of the day I had a full audio system installed AND... they the DLR's now stay on! Works just like it did in auto mode but when it gets dark the heads come on and the DLR's stay on. Only $150 extra and they wired it perfect/clean. No codes, errors, nothing. Best part was they didn't take apart the front of the car. If you're in the Chicago burbs check out: F&G Audio in Naperville, IL. Ask for Francisko, total pro's and laid back. |
I saw "after" pictures of this mod and man, those DRLs are bright as fcuk at night.

If you guys want to do this yourself and save some money I did DIY for the LED Mod. It is very simple and only takes about 1 1/2 hors to do.. It is circuit safe and also if your in PA it will pass inspection being that I wired it to shut off with high beams. If your laws in your state are different let me know and I can email you a different wire diagram to have them on or off in different ways so you can pass inspection..

Anyone wire it up so that the DRL comes on with parking light and also stay on with main beams. ?
