Scubasubikers build thread
Ok so bought a new 2013 370z sport. After I got sound and tint installed, next order of biz is... Wipe that s**t eating 2013 grin off Josephie's face and give her a bad a** Stillen evil smile complete with fangs. This thread will encompass the removal, fit, placement of the vertical led lights (not on the stillen bumper and must be fabricated), and paint job plus completion. Stay tuned... I can only work on this stuff Thurs through Sat. In my dads shop.

So here's the front and side skirts
So spent the late afternoon removing front bumper ( incomplete) so I could check stillen for fit. Going effing crazy trying to remove headlights which appears to be a pre-requisite . Going to comb the threads here for advice on thAt, but about to yank my hair out. I'm pretty smart, but there's gotta be a trick. Anyone have a manual or link for this? Removing the front fascia is very easy. Just took mine off today. To answer your question, THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE REMOVED. As far as a DIY goes check out the Stillen G3 DIY's. Hope this helps.
Edit: Here's a DIY: DIY - Front Bumper Removal Just a short description of removal: remove under engine splash shield, remove pop clips just under the front of the hood, remove bolts behind fender liner (1 on each side), gently pull outward on top edge of fascia starting on the outsides and working towards the center. Hope this helps

Ah, yeah...already did all that and That looks only marginally like my front end. LEDs are a major hurdle and in front of the wiper fluid box/ headlights and cramed in like sardines. Managed to remove right but left with WF box in way... Frustrated.

Did get nismo spoiler installed today! So not totally irritating day... And I laugh a bit at that. I do bitch when I'm frustrated, but I understand and appreciate this part is a fun learning process. New skills and a challenge= Happy Suzanne!

you have to remove the washer fluid box to install the bumper. Stillen sells a smaller one, or you can just go without a washer.

What I got accomplished today...
Removed old wiper fluid box and installed stillen supplied new one. It's pretty cheesy: first it's not made to fit the wheel well mold so the anchor points aren't flush. Second, where they want you mount it, it is impossible to installe the back screw so I had to drill a hole and zip tie the whole thing to the frame to keep it securely fastened. Third, it doesn't have a place for the float sensor so they make you flip it upside down and zip tie that in so it fakes the system out and thinks the washer fluid is full. Lastly, and my biggest bitch here is that it doesn't seal well to the OEM neck so if you overfill the tank, it's gonna leak. |

Foam insert modification...
The Nissan foam insert doesn't fit the stillen fascia so I had to saw a chunk of foam off, then sand it down to match the left and right curvature . |

Preliminary stillen bumper fitting. Initially, this did not fit well due to me having removed the under bumper splash guards and tire wind deflectors. The bumper is so flexible it needed the support from the bottom. Pretty nice and tight for not even having any holes drilled yet or the 3 piece fascia epoxied together yet. I did put in a couple temporary pop rivets to check hood clearance. Having an issue with the left hood latch not wanting to latch which is causing a gap. Tried to fix with the adjustment knob, but it looks like a latch issue so I guess I'll delve into that when I get back to working on this next Thurs. Next order of business...epoxy 3 piece bumper, refit, drill holes and mount. Then do research on what will actually bond to this urethane material so I can fabricate something for the OEM LEDs. If I find that nothing bonds to this crap, I'll scrap the idea and install some led strip lighting, but I REALLY want to keep the cool LEDs. LOVE the shape! |
