Default Not your typical window issue

My 2010 370z was recently burglarized having had the drivers side window busted out. Safelite auto glass came out to replace the glass but now the window will only roll up and down when the door is closed. When the door is open it will roll down but not up. Anybody have experience with this? Please help!!

Wonder if not going up has something to do with minding the air gap for closing it and you've just never noticed it?

everything seemed to be working fine up until the Z was burglarized. the body shop where it's getting worked on thinks it might have something to do with the stereo being pulled out and screwing up the electrical system somehow. i looked at the wires for the stereo and they look like they were just disconnected with no damage.

Doesn't make any sense to me but it may help the troubleshooting efforts of others if you will open the door while rolling up the window and noting the door position when the window stops. If it stops as soon as the door is cracked open, it may have something to do with the door status switch (wild guess).

On modern, computer-controlled cars, it's always possible that unplugging the stereo could cause a spike and mess up something.

If no one comes up with a solution soon, I'll look through the FSM and see what I can figure out.

Good luck.

I did some digging around in the Power Window Control (PWC) section of the 2009 FSM and came up with the following info/references. Unfortunately, I can see nothing that would cause your symptoms. I have been able to eliminate a few components from the suspect list, but not much more.
Maybe someone else can use the references.
My comments in DarkGreen.

Something that you can check easily is the connector that is in the door hinge area that connects the door electrical to the car. There is a retaining lever that should be in place. There should be no movement of the connector relative to the body when you wiggle it.

Oh. A long shot, but it may have something to do with the window lockout switch in the main switch.

PWC-10
Component Description
BCM I don't think the BCM is the problem. Everything works when the door is closed.
• Supplies power to power window switches.
• Controls retained power function Retained power lets you use the windows for 15 seconds after you turn the car off.

Power window main switch Switches in driver door. Since the windows work when the door is closed, I doubt this is the problem. It could be an anti-pinch problem, but that would point to the encoder as the culprit.
• Directly controls all power window motors in all doors.
• Controls anti-pinch operation of power window.

Power window sub-switch Switches in passenger door. See comments for main switch.
• Controls anti-pinch operation of power window.
• Controls power window motor of passenger door.

Power window motor A possibility. Not the motor itself, but maybe the encoder.
• Integrates the encoder and window motor.
• Starts operating with signals from each power window switch.
• Transmits power window motor rotation as a pulse signal to power window switch

Driver side door lock assembly (doorkey cylinder switch) Nope. Shouldn't have any effect on windows.
• Transmits operation condition of key cylinder switch to power window main switch.

Remote keyless entry receiver) Nope. Shouldn't have any effect on windows.
• Receives lock/unlock signal from intelligent key, and then transmits to BCM.

Door switch Can't tell for sure, but I don't think this is the problem
• Detects door open/close condition and transmits to BCM.

I had the exact same issue and the window reset procedure didn't work for me at first. But I played with it with the car both off and while running and it ended up working. Hope you figure it out soon too. The little things like that bug the crap out of me.

I have the same exact problem with my 09 Touring that I just purchased last week out of warranty from private owner.

It does it to both the driver and passenger side.
