My experience with baker tuning

Id like to start off by letting everyone know that i deleted the first thread i made like this.... like many of you said i hadnt contacted baker to hear their part of the story, so i did just that....its almost 2 months of this bs and i think thats long enough

in the first week of january i placed an order on the top secret super induction intakes from baker tuning... they were basically giving a discount on them and so i went for it

after waiting almost 1 month for them to arrive from UPS.....which i think i was raped in shipping btw, gave it the benefit of the doubt that it was all just bad luck... when the lady brought out the box i was furious....

http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...90025617_n.jpg

http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...96181626_n.jpg

i instantly investigated wether there was damage and indeed there was....

http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...22746333_n.jpg

http://sphotos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...50322010_n.jpg

http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...47075761_n.jpg

http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...43411816_n.jpg

http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...62694725_n.jpg

the carbon fiber shroud was cracked for the passenger side and the driver b pillar were chipped... honestly it could have been a lot worst from the looks of the box but i guess i lucked out on that part.... the last picture shows the packing... let me explain how this thing was packed... it was packed like a middle school child packed it. each part was wrapped in a really thin layer bubble wrap and lack of foam peanuts so basically they were dancing all over the damn place till they made it to guam.... also when they put the b pillars i ordered inside the box they just put it at the very top zero cushion.... im lucky they didnt crack when the box was smashed.... i was pretty damn angry that day and if i think about it today... it still makes me pretty damn angry but that wont help the situation so i let it be....

about a week later i realized... the intakes didnt come with the brackets... they have the bolts and nuts for the brackets but no brackets... i double checked with zuperman to confirm if they come with brackets it can even be seen in his pictures when he mounted the intakes... i brought this up with baker and he got pretty defensive saying thats how they got it from top secret and all the intakes didnt come with brackets. this is the part that ticks me off even more he then says "thats why we gave it to you so cheap because it doesnt come with brackets"....

I for one TELL people that before they even buy anything from me TELL THEM that... "o hey man there is a slight blemish on it, or hey bro it has a dull spot here" not let them discover it on there own.... thats just wrong:shakes head: your basically tricking the person....

anyways imma nice guy so i tell baker... ill source out the brackets myself... ill be the better person and ill personally buy the brackets and that ill even take care of the chip on the pillar... you know so im not a little boy whining about these small things but at least replace of pay for the cracked shroud... thats all im asking... what do i get in return... he ignores me  freaking awesome.... and yesterday i find out they are no longer a forum vendor on here :D haha thats the cherry on top.... all i got from baker was... "o hey your situation is UNFORTUNATE but thats all i can do".... now let me ask wtf did you do... i did all the possible ways to fix the problem... i contacted CFE if they can repair the crack, i contacted japan to i can get the damn brackets from top secret and got a qoute for the cracked shroud... but all they said was sorry... baker also said that they didnt alter how it was packed because thats how they got it from top secret.... let me share something with you guys...

http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...03358799_n.jpg

^^^^^ thats my top secret engine cover direct from japan(thank god i didnt get it from you guys.... )
THAT IS HOW YOU SHIP PARTS THAT ARE RARE!!!! imagine that came from japan only... baker is all the way from texas  come on guys thats just common sense.... everytime i ship stuff to states i bubble wrap it till it cant breath..... i dont let them dance around till they destroy themselves....

at this point im not even after no money... im just after the damn principle.... majority of the time all i got from baker was... "o hey man im sick" or sorry "meeting talk to you later", "out of the office", "ill get back to you tomoro", "ill get back to you next week".... excuse after excuse... mind you they never replied to me unless i emailed them twice or three times.... EVEN if they didnt REPLACE the part at least like "o hey simota i cant replace the shroud but well pay 20%" or 20 bucks... SOMETHING... ANYTHING but no i just got the cold shoulder....

you guys wanna know whats the most hilarious part in the end.... after i bought the brackets and i buy the replacement shroud its basically the same price as buying it for the original price except i went the harder way

Jasonle 02-20-2013 08:25 PM

That sucks man :( sorry you went through that b.s. That packaging looks like ****..Iwould be furious too.

GaleForce 02-20-2013 08:41 PM

Very disappointing. Sorry they put you through this Simota.

There are only a handful of reputable vendors on this forum.

SA370 02-20-2013 09:41 PM

Sorry about your issues. I was about to order the b pillar covers from them when I saw your initial thread, needless to say they did not get my business. Hopefully one way or another they take care of you.

Hey man we both live in Toronto, do you mind letting me know who the reputable ones are so I don't become a victim?

Sure. Send me a PM when you get your car. I'll let you know who treats me right.

RoshDawg 02-20-2013 11:43 PM

Thanks for letting us know! I suggest you file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau (BBB). It has worked for me the two times I went through them.

nogoodname 02-20-2013 11:56 PM

I would have done a charge back and then that will get them moving. They knew you are pretty far away and they took advantage of you.

in the beginning ive been wanting to file a dispute on paypal but that gets me a full refund right? i never wanted a full refund.... but i think its to late for that...

NitrousZ34 02-21-2013 03:29 AM

******** man. Those are quality parts and they should be treated and packaged as such. Even though you stood up and became the better person, you should have still filed a complaint and/or got your money back. Thanks for letting us know who to stay away from. Sorry you had to take the hit on it though. Top Secret ftw :ughdance:

Perf.Des 02-21-2013 09:02 AM

Bummer. I had ups destroy my supercharger and they basically said too bad

TenaciousZ 02-21-2013 09:21 AM

Screwing over a recognized member on here will destroy sales.

You would think its common sense for them to make it right, even if it means a loss, but getting word out that their service is amazing.

Evidence of good service and product = we send money.

Or you do this and :gtfo2:

Apoc370z 02-21-2013 12:10 PM

Situation like this i would just reject the package have them ship it back using the shipper's account. Then file for a charge back.

You have absolutely no reason to accept packages in such condition.

i even told baker that i understand that they would lose out to much money if they replace the b pillar and brackets for me... and being a business owner myself i didnt wanna screw them over thats why i went with pretty much you take half the hit and i will too... despite the fact that maybe if they packed it right and even IF ups still smashed it... it wouldnt have smashed the cf shroud...

your right when you say that taking a lose sometimes is better.... sometimes at my shop i take hits for customers in unforeseen circumstances, but because i want them to return to me and i know its no ones fault then fine ill step up to the plate and eat that.... i simply think baker is lazy and doesnt give a sh!t because they are no longer a vendor here... plus they are probably like... his all the way in the middle of the pacific ocean... he cant do nothing :D

that was the first thing on my mind.... the lady offered that... i declined it because i was afraid i would get screwed by both parties.... and im glad i didnt do that because knowing baker screwed me im pretty sure those lazy mofos here at UPS would have just said tough $hit

wheee! 02-21-2013 02:18 PM

still want to know where your gold mine is Sim.....

DEpointfive0 02-21-2013 02:24 PM

Sim, kill them... Bash them on FB, and ask the mods to change your title to "BEWARE OF BAKER TUNING"
Have people call in saying they wanna place an order for something, and then call back and say... Yeahhh... You got a terrible review from this guy on the 370Z forum

I'll do it once I figure out what my google voice thing was (I can't call using my normal phone because I'm in their system because I used to service my car with them and they were good to me,) but you need to rape them and I stand behind you no matter how my experience was)

Me too. When I started my business, being internet car forum centered, my main core philosophies were to never send yout anything I wouldn't accept on my own car, and never, ever, under any circumstances let a customer be unhappy, whatever it takes. You live and die by your internet reputation these days. Sometimes there is a bad part. I replace and pay any applicable labor if required, no questions asked. The customer shouldn't have to pay extra for something not right.

amen to that brother.... ill even use my overlays as another example... if for any reason it gets lost... which is has a couple times... and the party hasnt received it yet i send them another one no questions asked.... even if it means i dont earn crap and lose out... its the principle that matters.... there was this one guy from france... he said he never got his overlay... well i sent him his overlay about 3 times.... when he still didnt receive the 3rd one i just gave him a refund.... that principle was all i was after from baker... being that i spent pretty much 2k on parts and how they treated me was very disappointing... in the ending emails of baker to me he told me that i would have to take it to UPS....

now ill pause for a minute... how exactly am i suppose to do that? i didnt ship it... they did..... i never even got an invoice from UPS... all i had was the paypal payment receipt....

tonythetiger 02-21-2013 07:51 PM

get a refund!!

LMBmikeZ 02-21-2013 07:58 PM

:iagree:

You should force their hand and file a complaint through PayPal. You need to be compensated for what it's going to cost you to fix this stuff at the very least.

you can't dispute it with UPS, only the shipper can. I do 10,000 in shipping with UPS every year, but fortunately I have only had to file one claim with them on behalf of my customers.

If you log into PayPal goto the transaction and there should be a link to file a complaint or report a problem. I thought you had 40-45 days after payment to do that. I'm not sure. I had to file a complaint against EVO-R but it was a while ago.

i hope so too....

my buddy with a top secret G35 here told me something that kinda shocked me... he read my story and was like.... "have you ever thought what if it was shipped like that? like what if UPS didnt f*ck it up? what if they shipped it f*cked up already and it was just in there storage and instead of throwing it away they sold it and shipped it to you and because we live so far... they would blame shipping...." ABSOLUTE GENIUS... i never thought of that.... what do you guys think... he was like having the box look like that bro... and you saying that the pillars were on top with no cushion wouldnt that have cracked if the shroud cracked? it was probably cracked already to begin with.... :shakes head: this makes sense in my head.... how about you guys?

simota1 02-21-2013 10:33 PM

and it finally hits me..... the box... had a UPS GROUND sticker..... now when i got the box i wondered why would they ship it UPS ground? There is no truck that can drive to guam lmao.....On the tracking number it went from UPS facility to hawaii then guam? so why would it say UPS GROUND? what i think had happened is that they shipped these intakes to someone..... and it came cracked..... it was then shipped BACK to BAKER and baker shipped the new intake to the other person... the instructions and brackets were probably forgotten or lost in this process..... then so they wont lose out i came along.... and they sold it to me!!! holy... sh!t.... imma get that UPS ground and bring it to UPS and see if they can track it... if someone elses name pops up... i have the smoking gun fellas....

jlo370z 02-21-2013 10:36 PM

im curious, the picture you posted of what im guessing to be the pillars. has the rainbow scratch (6 scratches made at same time) what in the box could have possible had teeth like that to create those scratches. they where not individually made because its to uniform. so they where made at once. anything in that box that could have made that?

just type it in ups

ups ground is a term for the slow boat shipping, i ups ground stuff to california from illinois, still going to see a plane just might make multiple stops on the way

you were right.. it was the same tracking as the one i got... so basically they shipped it the slowest mail despite the fact i told them MULTIPLE times to ship it USPS

simota1 02-22-2013 02:44 AM

well i filed a dispute of $500 bucks.... i think thatll cover all of the shipping... replacement parts, waiting, and wasting my time..... im not mean enough to ask for a full refund because it wasnt completely screwed.... and still usable it was just damaged and missing parts... i think thats fair right guys?

ak808 02-22-2013 04:40 AM

Holy smokes. I almost just ordered an amuse exhaust and amuse coilovers from these guys because well it was discounted heavily. Only thing that stopped me was when I came back from vacation I could no longer pm them. Wow sorry to hear what happened to you but thanks for saving me the grief.
