making a shift knob flush(Without cutting corners)

So I bought the CF nismo shift knob and basically, I hate it. I actually prefer the stock one better. I like the curve of it so that my hand wraps and sits comfortably on it.

So I'm going to buy a slightly cheaper one from sickspeed. The white one with racing stripes (a member did an install here).

My question is how I can buy this shifter knob and make it flush with the shift boot.

What I want in the end is maybe an inch of pole between the shift boot and the knob, if it sits high. Or flush if it sits real low (if short shifter is the solution). I just don't want to cut any corners and I want it to look nice.

See this.

I don't like how high it is when he is done with the install. However, I also don't like how goofy it looks after he tosses that motorcycle part on it. I hope I'm communicating effectively what I'm going for.

you can try using this part for the base: Zeetoyz Inc. - Nissan 350Z, Ring Kits, Engines, Cold Air Intake
but as far as the height, you can either use the adjusting nut to control that or like you mentioned installing a short shifter which lowers it slightly. you can also put zip ties or something else underneath the boot to keep it flush with the knob

why not get one through wc latheworks?. I got mine from them and it sits about 3/4 to 1 inch shorter than stock. You can basically rest your arm on the armrest while shifting ( I found myself having my arm slightly elevated to shift) and cruising. They make it so that it tapers to the boot real clean! Check out my album, its worth a look in my opinion.
