Man...this car chips WAY too easy!

I had my car detailed yesterday, this afternoon I decided to take myself and my lady out to get a treat...

I get back and look for bug guts to clear off, and there's yet another chip in my car, in the front bumper - though down to the plastic. I had her look at it too, and she pointed out 3 others in the nose...

Well, at least it was perfect for a day...

You should get a clear bra. It will prevent you from getting anymore. PM me if you would like some info on them...

That's a statement, several have made. 350 did the same thing. To bad the Z's aren't painted and clear coated like the GTR!

Yeah, the clear bra...

My thoughts on it...

1) It'll help with preventing paint chips where the clear bra is, but does nothing for the rest of the car - meaning it'll leave a "tan line" on the car if you take it off...
2) They leave a line that is visible/has a ridge, you have to be careful cleaning/waxing your car to not get junk in there, and forget about taking a polisher to the car without taking it off.
3) Usually costs enough that you can at least debate having it repaired when it gets bad enough.

I'll just gripe about it...or just accept it as the fate of the car...

I just keep reminding myself, *at least I had 24 hours of perfection*...

I wasn't aware of no. 1 & 2!

It's a car. Drive it and have fun.

Ok so the clear coat is soft but I don't think there are any paints that will not chip when rocks traveling 100 MPH hit them.... my paint chips in the front bumper go clear through the paint and chip off a chunk of the plastic as well. No paint is gonna survive that abuse soft or hard. Possibly some sort of epoxy paint but nothing we typically use on automobiles...

I'm debating the clear bra - for the cost of it is getting close to what a re-spray would be or more. And how well does it protect your paint. It will help for sure but will it prevent every possible chip? If its not protecting from everything you're gonna have to take it off AND repair the chips.... then re-apply?

So is it a fact that you cant polish or wax over a clear bra? Does a clear bra stop little dings from a high speeding rock, we know it would probably stop the chip from happening. Im debating on getting one too, i cant decide on if it would be economical or not.

wirth the money. You cam way right over it . just take extra time when buffing it off to not leave a residue where it ends. Easy as pie. If you do get chips i recomend Dr. Color chips. works awsome. As you can see from my sif I like my clear bra. It works great but not matter what unless you do the whole car you will get dinged then dr. color chip time

A clear bra, huh? It looks better than the leather ones, but its sole purpose is to keep the paint in order. I'm not sure how well they work as I've never installed or had one, but it certainly beats the alternative I've listed.
