Looks really sick. I'm curious about cost as well. Also did you scuff teh chrome plating before painting or did you paint directly over it? Did it come out glossy even before you put the clear plastic housing back on?

So many questions I want answered before I do this myself! :O

The chrome is left to shine through. It actually looks even better in person because you can tell is not normal black housing.

And yes it is shiny even without the plastic lens.
