Chris Forsberg Racing wide rear fenders: Anyone try these?
"Replacement carbon fiber or fiberglass rear quarter panels for the Nissan 370Z. These rear fenders are approximately 10mm wider than stock, taking advantage of the already very wide rear track of the 370Z. No cutting is required but it is recommended to take full advantage of the weight savings. These fenders help you to loose weight as well as provide the ability to have replaceable quarter panels if yours get damaged."
Linkies There was a thread a while ago about widening the fenders, and I think an additional 10mm would give some DD's a little more aggresive stance without the 'rice'-worries of rivets or whatnot.

Probably made the molds from OEM 'rolled fenders. Back in the mid/early 90's, before body kits were readily available, we'd spend hours rolling and stretching the original bodywork to widen it. On my 95 integra GS-R, we widened the front by 1.3" and the rear by almost 1.75". I have no idea the name of the tool, but it was like a large steel ball/drum you would constantly mold the panel over for hours on end. Reminded me of kneading dough out like a pizza.

Hmmm how do these work? We have beat this around so many times. Our rear fenders are welded to the frame. How can you put these on and maintain a good structure (unless you go bullits route which costs mega cash)???

The more I think about it, I'm led to believe the original fender edging is there(where it meets the frame) and the main part is cut away. I will email tomorrow and get some details and to see if this would break my Club Rally status on the Z (stock with minor alterations).

I figured that because I noticed rivets all the way around. That is still going to be pricey to carefully cut the outter shell of the fender off. For only 10mm gain I cant see the point in doing this.

I think the point of these would be for racing and easy swap out (drilling out rivets and pop-riveting a new panel on and you're GTG). I cannot imagine they would work for show or DD.
I believe the 10mm would come from rolling out the fender well away from the original mounting. This would reduce tire rub and allow someone to drop their car a little more without sacrifice to wheel size or camber correction. Hopefully, they will get back to me soon; email sent.

Hello everyone,
These fenders were made not to be a "widebody" application. They are to be a lightweight/replaceable option on racing applications. As you can see below we remove all the crushable metal and replace it with the composite fender. You can remove more material but we are limited by the "rear most suspension point" (rear subframe mount) and no higher than our front side window trim in the Formula Drift rules. We felt that the rear track width was already very wide vs the front track width and the wheelbase. Which is why they are not 20, 30, 50mm fenders. They are available in fiberglass and wet or dry carbon fiber. Thanks for the interest! Last edited by Topics II; 12-27-2012 at 10:38 AM. |

My option would be: 3" on each rear fender and 1" on the front fender.
