I am not trying to be racist (seriously, no offense intended to Germans) but i came across a couple of German friends/coworkers in the past, cool people but waaaaay too prideful when it comes to German products vs the rest of the world.
I am German, but I think certain things from certain countries are better. I simply want to "try them all" and to deny that the German automobile is unique is just ignorant. It offers a different feel from American and JDM. I want to experience it. I may hate it, but I want to try it.

I have owned several cars, from JDM imports to Mercs, they dont have a single good thing to say about japanese car or american cars. Convos with them always ended up with them picking on little things and how the rest of the world will never be as good as German products.
Not my bag. Meh. Some things, yes, like when SIG went from W Germany to Exeter, NH, total failure, lol.
Funniest thing is, they dont have a single complaint when i drive them around in my SLK, and the SLK was making all sorts of noises due to the fact that it is a convertable.
I'm not into Merc. I would like to try BMW. It's just more my style, and comes in manual still.
I do admit that german products are at the top of the line, but that doesnt mean that other products are bad. Like others said, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to take apart the console cover, and i never have any power steering noises.

But nissan seriously needs to work on the paint..
I simply want to try a German car. For the experience. If I thought they were so much better I would have just bought an M3 instead of a Z06 and ended my "car quest" right there. Or traded the Z06 for one when I got out of it. No, I want to try them because they are different. That said, I have experienced a BMW E92 M3 from 1 lane over, and it wasn't any quicker than my 370Z. I was proud of my little V6! Of course, this happened during a dream I had.

It sounds to me like an E92 M3 is the car for you.

I have heard this A LOT about German electronics, and honestly, would rather deal with JDM poor mechanical engineering than German poor electronic engineering. That said...warranty.

I would always get my license and credit cards stuck in my Z it's not that big of a deal lol. I replaced my front rotors with aftermarket ones and never had problems, and burned through several sets of tires. Its part of the game haha
I understand the new tires being crap. Still, it is crap to the point that I feel they are unsafe on wet roads when going traffic-speed. Even when new.

The rotors shouldn't need to be replaced in the first 10K miles without track-use. That was just crap. Even the dealership said the rotors on that car sucked.

My power-steering pump shouldn't "be considered normal" when it sounds like this (this is about 1/2 as bad as it can get sometimes, fluid level is normal, and Nissan dealership found nothing wrong and called Nissan Corp tech line and was told "characteristic of the car"---horseshit!):

(I have a Berk CBE. It also fits like crap, and screw Berk, they never sent me the parts to fix it that I gave them my CC info to bill me for. The left hanger just swings in the breeze because it won't fit. I posted about that about a year ago. NEVER! do business with them again. Crap products, and zip for CS other than they will talk to you and "yes, yes, yes" over the phone.)

How do YOU get the CC's out of the Z? I used superglue and a paint-brush, finally. Ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as taking the console out to get them.

After reading all the ranting & banter, we never got the answer to if you broke it or if cooler heads prevailed

Crappy windshields, weak components in general, and thin paint. This is my first and last Japanese car, thank god at least it's pretty and fun to drive around town. When everything is going well, it's a decent ride, but since I have owned it it has had far to much that doesn't go well.

Really forming a dislike for this car with this being my latest complaint. Probably why I don't post much anymore except when **** goes wrong.

Obnoxious power steering noises---Nissan says normal
Warped rotor that required them to turn it twice at 10K miles
Windshield that breaks when you look at it (broken on day 3 by a small pebble on the interstate)
Tires that hydroplane at anything above 55mph---Why, Nissan? Much better choices...

I guess this is my 16K mile, 1 year rant. Luckily resale on this car should be very good, and maybe once I put better tires on it it can take a corner without pushing.

Part of this of course is being pissed at the sawed-off little bugger that designed the console, but part of it is legit distaste for Japanese mindset when it comes to a car, apparently, as I had much the same feelings about my G20.
I've heard it all now.

Guy wants to trade in his Z because the cubby lid is to complicated for him to figure out how to remove it. You definitely make it sound like you have at least some sort of mechanical knowledge, but you were nearly defeated by a piece of plastic that takes 10 minutes (TOPS) to remove?

Other, slightly more valid rants:
Power steering makes noises: Noises like what? Like it is working? I am little confused on this..

Crappy windshield: Huh? So the glass breaks when it is hit with a rock. Yup, it's glass. Owned 1 other Japanese car (subaru) for a total of 6-7 years and never had a windshield break on me. Surely if this was a valid or actual issue there would be more people on her mentioning it?

Tires hydroplaning: Are you doing 55mph in a downpour or something? In the 2 years I've owned my Z and have driven the piss out of it, it has yet to hydroplane anywhere. Maybe different tires would fix this for you? I would guess a downfall of having performance tires is they aren't the best in the rain. Then again, if the Z had less grippy tires everyone would complain how it handles like garbage in the dry. Pick your poison..

You make it sound like all american cars are dreams to work on, they aren't. Have you ever tried to change the sparkplugs on an LT1/LSX? Change o2 housing on an SRT4? Tried doing anything on a CTS-V or SRT8? If you think a German car is going to be any easier, you are really going to be in for a surprise. Please man, most cars aren't the easiest to work on, that's why there is a group of people out there who do it for a living so normal people don't have to.

You obviously don't want the car and are making excuses to get rid of it, so do yourself a favor and sell it off.

My co-worker bought a bmw 3 series (used) around 60k for 21k from a small dealer. She's proud of the car because BMW. First week the hid bulb burned out. 2nd week the suspension making noise. 3rd week ac problem. Luckily she's bought a extended warranty. Everything get fixed. Then after like 2 months seem to be good. Then the navigation won't turn on. The luckiest is totaled her car but she's totally fine. (Thanks god) then her second car was BMW again!! (Stubborn) Same dealer. Of course extended warranty Again. Now lil big time. I was 7 series 65k miles and she's got it for 25k. After a month of driving. The car seem to be damn good. After another couple of days the engine oil was leaking. Now the car in the dealer for 3 months already. The dealer found so many issues of the car not only the engine oil is leaking. A lot of parts need to be replaced. Extended warranty refused to pay the repair for some reason. I'm not saying BMW was a bad car or German car was bad. But for me. 60k-70k miles for high class car having some much trouble is unacceptable. Think about it buddy.
