Default I have a question about dropping

Hey guys
I always had this question in my mind but never asked anyone so far
I am considering dropping my car by 1.5in and the question is
can our stock suspension/shock withstand aftermarket springs???
I don't need coilovers since I don't track my car. want to drop mainly for aesthetic. Has anyone encountered problem yet with aftermarket springs?
If so what brand? which brand is most reliable??
Compare to stock, how does 1.5 in drop feels like? does it scrap everytime?
Thank You

The shocks and the rest of the suspension can handle the drop. It's just the matter of proper alignment where camber kits may be required. It's gonna scrape easier since our cars sit pretty low already. It's not going to be impossibly low, but you will have to take more precautions around curb aprons and speed bumps.

"would you die if you scrape your Z?"

A lot of people here like Swifts, check the huge thread in the suspensions to find out why.

How exactly are you supposed to drive a lowered car?

What happens if you're in the middle of a busy street waiting to turn left into a plaza with a steep incline? You're gonna have to take it slow but the street is so busy and theres a huge line behind you.

What happens if you get in the mall, but suddenly see a huge speed bump in front of you and there are cars trailing you, no options but to keep on rolling...?

I know you're supposed to approach inclines with a 45 degree angle but what if that isn't enough?

So many to choose from for the drop you are looking for. Swifts aren't the end all. It does have credibility but so does a bunch of others. Eibach's, Teins, and H&R to name a few. To your question, it is good practice to swap your shocks when you install springs. I will not explain why but search it yourself. I checked with my suspension and alignment shop and he said the stock shocks in my car will do the job for now as it is new. He did say that there will be a point when new shocks will be needed and I said to myself duh. I'm on Sport H&Rs now and have an excellent drop. Coilovers on the horizon.

You drive carefully? All of my cars have been lowered and I drive 100 miles a day. No problems whatsoever... Worry more about driving/avoiding stupid people and worry less about what other people think.

Its almost like a game we play see it makes driving that much special and better i think because it makes me at least think ahead of where ill be going and obstacles in my way...I mean don't we all when we drive these beautiful Z's? Always thinking about that alternate road to get to point B because road X is full of potholes? To me its all the same but with more caution, I don't care because I know I'm taking better care.

The world blows up and we're left with a gaping hole in the space-time continuum.

Seriously? You drive carefully but sometimes you scrape things.

Poop happens. You get over it and move on. It's called "life".

Yes, that was my main worry about changing shocks later on. That's why I asked if our stock shocks can handle the aftemarket because so I don't have to work two times later on changing shocks again.

hehe worrying too much hurts bro! I mean even now my stock height scrape and some speed bumps even I go 45 degree angle in 3mph, I scrape so I guess scraping is something you have to live with having a sports car!
