High beam not working 100%
So I recently noticed that only my right high beam is actually working. When I turn them on, the left one moves, but it only moves barely (~1") on a wall a few feet away. Where the right light will raise nearly 6-7". Since it moves, I know it's getting power and should work. I'm hoping it's not a serious mechanical issue.
Is there a way to adjust this? I've had my headlights out before and only noticed a single adjustment wheel. |
I can only suggest to maybe replacing the bulb or swap the left to the right side and see if issue moves to the other side showing that the high beam if not working on the problem bulb
No idea on adjusting and I would not mess with the adjustment since it's not the obvious cause. IMO |
Remember that the lights are staggered so that the left one aims lower. This is done so that you don't blind oncoming traffic. IMO, don't bother messing with the adjustment wheels- use the high beam at night and see how it projects 100' away rather than closer against a wall.

Driver's side headlight does not point in the same place (or the same height) as the passenger side one. This is so you don't blind oncoming traffic (too much).

I didn't mess with the adjustment wheels. I figured that would aim the entire light differently (low beams included). Since the lows are fine, I think it's a mechanical issue. I'm pretty sure both lights aimed a bit higher before when I flipped the highs on rather than just the passenger light. I tried it at a distance as well in a dark canyon. Both lights seem to eventually meet at a point. However, the passenger's side was noticeably brighter than the driver's. It was almost unnoticeable that the left light even had a high beam setting.
I ended up talking to a service guy, but next to replacing it, there isn't much they can do. Thanks for all the input :] |

My bet is that the solenoid in the driver side light is faulty. The entire light assembly would have to be replaced. But it looks like you have a 12 so it should be under warranty. I wouldn't put it off. It could stop working completely and if you're out of warranty when that happens it would be an expensive fix. |
