Repairing salvage 370z
3 Attachment(s)
Friends I have an opportunity to acquire this interesting 370z, but as I do some repairs wrecked, I change:
door Driver airbag Passenger airbag Pilot seat airbag In good to know: You need to place a new front and rear fender? Affected open sensor front tire pressure? The steering and suspension left front tire will hit? The airbag sensors should I change? in where? Please tell me. ASAP |
There are a lot of ways to describe this car, interesting isn't one of them. Good luck to you, mate!
|
Thanks for the good vibes, but yes, interesting for the cost, but not by the state, please help with the repair!
|
Repairable as long as the chassis isn't twisted/damaged. The hardest part will be the rear quarter panel.
|
You're right on the front panel thought change a new one, which is the most damaged, change the door and rear iron it is possible?
But I worry about the air bag sensors. Everything else is changing. Not appear to have affected the chassis, but the fender. What do you think? |
That looks well over 8k to repair. Not worth it!!! Airbags an sensors alone will be around 3k for a new set. I would not risk my life by getting used airbags
|
|
Honestly this is bad and not worth it. The body frame is damaged as far as the pictures can tell. Doors, interior panels im pretty sure its banged up, wheels, quarter panels, prolly ur brakes are meshed up too. Seats, Airbags, mirrors, fenders, paint and installation. These are the obvious so go figure if it's worth it.. Unless you can the whole car for under 5k den go ahead. =)! anw good luck and have fun if you choose to go on with it.
|
Dont touch the car!
The car was deemed a "total" for a reason ;)
|
What I say is true, but it is also true that the air bag to change (original course) would be a necessary investment. And the fenders, at least the front is a change. The board may be back? The rest is repaired with carbon fiber.
The vehicle price I offer is good, and like every project takes effort and time. Wonder as pictures: If I change the airbags, sensors should I change? and what? I see that the left front wheel seems a little tack, you can fix that? I guess it's just mechanical. Thanks for your help |
The car suffered a good amount of side damage; hit a railing of some sort at a good rate of speed. The left side rims are destroyed which mean, the suspension, brackets, braces, etc. could have bent and sustained major damage. You probably will not be able to align this car back to factory specs. The frame its self may have endured damage by the impact as well but hard to tell.
Of course you will need air bags, but its up to you if you want to replace these. Cosmetic repairs are obvious, front headlight, front bumper, fender, door, rear quarter panel, rear light and bumper. You are looking at a very high cost to repair without the guarantee the car will ever drive normal. Unfortunately there is a good chance you will never truly get a feel for how the Z really drives. Return of investment is pretty much zero because if you were to sell the car, you will hardly get anything for it with a salvaged title along with the cost of depreciation. Why don’t you chop it and sell it for parts? |
I would advise against fixing it unless you are willing to spend around 12-15k to get it fixed. I know this sine I crashed my Z 2 weeks ago and I got quoted 16k to get it fixed, including air bags. Parts for this car are expensive.
If you want some more info pm me (I speak spanish by the way) |
This car was on copart right? **** at those prices buy 2 wrecked Z's and put them together.

Are you into drifting? No? Then dont buy it! As for me I would buy it in a heartbeat. New Fenders, Body Kit, Suspension arms, wheels, racing seats, custom steering wheel, gut it, rollcage, Carbon Fiber Doors and for the rear quarter, chop it and slap some of these Chris Forsberg fenders on it!

I would estimate around 15K in repairs at a minimum. And then you'd have a Z with a salvage title worth less then 15k.
|
But he said he does his own repairs.
|
I think the damage looks worse than it really is, still the parts add up really fast. I'm guessing that due to the type of colision that the frame is fine but I would put it on the rack just to be sure.
Parts list: - Front bumper cover & foam - Rear bumper cover - Fender - Door - Side skirt - Rear rocker - Front lower control arm - Front hub - Front spindle (possibly) - Rear toe link - Rear camber link - Front wheel, rear wheel - All airbags - Impact sensors (front left, rear-side left) If it's hard to get these cars in Peru then maybe it is worth it, but you have to make that decision based on overall cost and final value. You're at $8K just in parts (assuming used wheels), plus labor and paint. |
It sounds like you're going to do the repair yourself and have done that before. You already know what that takes and seem willing to put out the effort. Hell...go for it. what it seems people don't understand is that when the insurance company totals a vehicle out, they are including hours and hours of labor in the repair. That jacks the estimate up a lot. By buying it and self repairing it, you are saying that you are willing to do the labor for less than they were willing to pay. Nothing more. The result is profit margin or discount to you should you keep it for yourself. You can use new or good used parts depending on what it is to save even more. The only down side is the salvage title. Some finance companies won't finance them and some insurance companies won't insure them. At least not around here. That can make it kinda tough to move them down the road. I ran into that on some salvage bikes I've built in the past.
Which ever you decide to do good luck with it. :) |
If you can figure out a way for me to ship them to Peru, I have all airbags except the passenger one in the dash available. If I can figure out how to take that one out, I've got it too, plus any interior parts you might need.
|
My advice...
Put as little money in as possible, fill it with about 5 gallons of bondo, paint it and sell it as is. Only cosmetic repairs, then unload it on some fool who does not mind a salvage title. If you have any morals, just part it out. Engine and tranny alone should be worth some good $$$. Interior stuff too not to mention any good quarterpanels and suspension that might be left. |
part it and walk away...
|
Does it have the stock navi system o.o I don't mind buying it and trying to get it work on my car
|
do you guys see that he lives in Peru? The reason they buy and rebuild them is its a lot cheaper than paying the taxes on a working one.
|
This is what you need to figure out...
(import fees + value of a used Z with the same milage) Minus (the amount you will have to pay for + repair cost + labor + time) If you think the outcome is worth the trouble, by all means go for it. But for me, i will suck it up and save up for a used Z |
Thanks for the comments that come offering, there are positives, cautious. etc. More than a purchase can be a project, and will not be as fábrico left, I know. But here in Peru the taxes are so high that if you buy a second-to 23K for example we add 30% of the total value according to the blue book, out of other taxes, freight and other. Best option I see is, being a car for my use and clear would fix it, and that it is operating and maintaining security issues so I asked his opinion, what are the arrangements we see first impression.
All comments are welcome! |
i dont know how parts are priced there but my Z got hit parked needed a fender wheel lower control arm upper control arm steering rack strut and a subframe and im up to 13,500 in repairs. in parts alone i am at about 5k so far.
|
Usually people who buy these cars know how to fix them up... First time I've seen someone buy the car and ask for help on the forums on how to fix it :/ Good luck bud

This is exactly what I was thinking. Really with the questions he is asking I don't believe he should be taking on this project. Maybe it's just the language barrier. |

I think he's using a translator.
|
If you have someone with good experience on fixing crashed cars they could make the car look brand now for about 10k

Guys this is how it goes, im building my self a salvage 2009 370z with 25.000 miles (got it from copart), get it fixed right and registered under your name is going to be around 15.000$. Parts at dealer are 3 times the price as you can get them from people selling them on forums, but still , EXPENSIVE next week my Z will be done next week. |
I think it may be cheaper to just move to the US man :p
