Default Evo-R carbon fiber rear diffuser clear coat problem.

Hi all... just have a quick question to people that have the carbon fiber rear diffuser from evo-r. How are the clear coat holding up?

I recently bought the evo-r carbon fiber rear diffuser. Like many others, I had some fitment issues. I did the best I can to fit the diffuser. However, I recently found that there are little raised "bubble" along the edge of the diffuser as well as near the exhaust area. I spoke to local body shop about the issue, and they said that it could be due to the gas, vapor, or other contaminate got in between the layers. As the weather heats up, gas tried to escape, and creates the raised bubble. Is it true?

Thanks

bubbles right above the exhaust tip? it could be from the exhaust being too hot and too close to the diffuser.

I am not sure...but it is also along the upper edge of the diffuser which is pretty far from the exhaust

Mine is showing the slightest hints of bubbles at the moment and I believe it's just from the heat. I don't know if there's any way of preventing it and I recently installed Fast intentions and it has larger exhaust tips so hopefully that doesn't amplify the problem, but who knows. The heat will still get to the top of the diffuser, if you watch your car idle when it's cold out you'll notice the hot exhaust gases travel straight up and kind of fog up the rear bumper a little if it's just sitting still.

It most likely affects the edges faster which is why I'm assuming it's at the top and bottom but not near the center.

Wet carbon fiber process always has a chance of forming bubbles from trapped air and heat will make any bubbles larger if there are any.

I know its a pretty common problem for fiber glass pieces, like others said its caused by the trapped air bubble/gas between the layers.

Theres a way to get rid of them for fiber glass but i am not sure about cf

I haven't heard any negatives and I really like mine. Takes 5 minutes to install and looks really aggressive over stock

5 minutes? Wow, I guess I am one of the unlucky ones... It took me about 2 hours because of the fitment. Jay from Evo-r PMed me back and forth about how to fit it. ( He was on top of this, thanks!) It wasn't perfect but I just didn't wanna deal with it anymore... Plus my car is black, so it wasn't really that bad compared to other members who also had fitment issues. I love the look as well, but I wish it was made better...

I originally thought for some reason you had to remove the fog light when installing this then reinstall it afterwards. Once I figured out you just slap it on there and bolt it down it was like 1 minute per screw and the 5 holes were pre drilled.

Hey Dallaz... I think you have the Fujimura rear diffuser. My Evo-R comes with only 3 pre drilled screw holes and only 3 screws. I guess that is why yours fits perfectly!

No it's the Evo-r lol I bought it used and the guy who had it before me drilled 2 on each side underneath instead of one, then the regular one near the fog lamp. I also have the rear add ons which is why you might think fujimura
