Key Fob stopped working, even after new battery....
So my car was slowly starting to complain about me trying to lock the doors from farther than a foot away by pushing the handle locks. I stood closer. Then today, I tried and nothing.... No unlock, no beep, nothing. I got in the car after it silently unlocked (strange, as I hadn't reset the buttons) and the car tells me there is no key! I insert the key into the fobgina and it starts.
I take the key out, replace the battery even though the existing factory battery is still 3.0 volts and replace it with a new battery of the same kind that reads 3.1 volts. Still no key fob recognition and the car requires the use of the fobgina to start...?! So what do you all think? Dead fob? Time for a call to Nissan I guess... PS: My wife has the second fob and I will check it when she gets home tonight, see if the symptom is the same. Note: Steering lock fuse delete has already been done, not a steering lock issue. |
and no... it was never washed in the laundry, dropped or subjected to any abuse.....

Mine doesn't sense my key anymore either. The remote will still lock and unlock the doors, but I have to put it in the fobgina to start it. It was a little finicky for a while, but stopped altogether when I took the interior out.

That's not good....

Checked with the other fob... it's definitely the one fob that has died... great.

Exact same problem here. Replaced the battery and nothing has improved. I usually have to stand inches from the handle and it still takes me anywhere between 1 and 6 or 7 pushes to get it unlocked. Less frequently, once I sit down the key is not recognized in my pocket and I have to insert it.
I went to the dealer and they want around $200 to replace it. WTF?!? |
I have mine booked in for a service consult this week. I will try and get them to replace the fob under warranty. They say they want to diagnose the error in it first, but I am sure they will end up replacing it. No reason that it should not be covered under warranty...

Mine always work from a certain distance, but it was always like that, as long as the windows go up/down when I press it twice good to go.

New fob, everything is good to go again!
|
Edit: Never mind. New fob solved your issue.

Just throwing this out there, if my phone is too close to my fob, it will not work.
The only other thing I can add is that is even remotely related is that the motor that controls the locking and unlocking on my driver door has gotten weak. Often it will not unlock the door, though the car does sense my fob. |
