ssqpolo 06-28-2009 06:30 PM

come down to FL. u NEED to do mine asap!

Caravanshaka 06-28-2009 06:50 PM

lol, I'll be making a DIY tonight including part numbers of everything I used so anyone else can do it.

As far as the amber reflectors go, some may like it, some may not, but I am one that does like it

my black wheels when they finally get here will tie it together much better :)

DJcuetip 06-28-2009 08:09 PM

awesome! looks great man.. so how long did it take you? one day enough?

let me know about that harness i need it asap =D

Mike 06-28-2009 08:10 PM

looks great! I def have to do mine!

weltall 06-28-2009 09:28 PM

LOVE IT!!!

is it just me or do the rear wheels look under sized on these cars (filling out that rear will be first thing ill do when i get my 2010PW)

Caravanshaka 06-28-2009 10:22 PM

Was hoping to get to the night pictures and the DIY tonight, but the honey-do list kept me busy until 10pm and I have to work at 7am tomorrow :wtf2:

Total time was around 10 hours, would probably take me 6-7 to do a second set. The key is to take your time and do things right because you don't want to have to redo anything because you rushed.

I promise I'll get the DIY done tomorrow! :nutswinger:

weltall 06-28-2009 10:25 PM

in for night shots of the LED strips

did you have to bake the lights in the oven to release the glue/rtv?

Caravanshaka 06-28-2009 11:30 PM

alright, in the process of the DIY...you guys are gonna make me not get any sleep =/

the whole process is in the DIY, so check it out here: http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...tml#post102038

looks like an angry robot (it actually looks just like something i cant put my finger on it)

i love the mean look seriously it looks angry

i wonder what it would look like if the bottom portion of the grill was black instead of white

tvfreakazoid 06-29-2009 10:46 PM

Looks great, but DIY I will never do. I will wait for a good kit.
I was curious how they looked during the day? Are they pretty noticeable?
I've seen some of the newer audi's and during the day they are pretty noticeable and they look really great.

Caravanshaka 06-29-2009 10:56 PM

They are definitely noticeable in texas sun. You can see them a mile away. It's not quite as bright as the Audi's I have seen, but pretty darn close.

I have contemplated painting the fang area black, especially after I get my black wheels. It's hard for me to do though, I have a clear bra over it already. If I did anything I might do a vinyl overlay so at least it is reversible.

FricFrac 06-29-2009 11:02 PM

There should be some good RGB LEDs out now then you can have whatever colour you want - switch it up to match the car. Have it do the landing strip when you turn the signal light on on that side... oh the possibilities...

JacksHereR 07-01-2009 09:57 AM

hats off for bravery, everything that comes out of our oven is burnt

"Have it do the landing strip when you turn the signal light on on that side"
^^ +1

fkit, just do the landing strip constant - with speed of car! forwards/backwards

tvfreakazoid 07-02-2009 03:06 AM

I guess you would have to get brighter LED's.

minus the amber :icon17:

looks great, i want to do this but scared as i have no 'electrical stuff experience'

Caravanshaka 07-02-2009 07:33 AM

You can always change the Amber LED's there to white if you don't want the amber, they are on a circuit board in there and should be pretty easy to solder out and change, you'll just have to be careful that the LED's are similar ratings as the stocks.

I believe DIGItonium mentioned that you can get K2 Luxeon LED's and they have the same brightness as the Audi's. To be honest I worry that mine are too bright at night, so I wouldn't want to go any brighter.

nogoodname 07-02-2009 08:20 AM

Nice turn out on the LEDs, when I saw ur circuit.
Parallel and series circuits hit my brain....lol

tvfreakazoid 07-04-2009 05:21 PM

If there as the same as audi's, that's good enough. I just saw another one the other day and they look really cool. I hope by the time I get my Z, that there will be some really good quality LED lights' for the Z.

IIRC, they're SuperFlux with Audi's. These LEDs are roughly square with 4 leads and can typically run slightly higher current than 5mm LEDs. These are the types of LEDs I requested CiNcity to use for my head lights.

The Luxeon K2 is in my 194 parking light (also trunk, dome, and license plate lights).

Great job with your head lights! I had them swap out the amber LED for a white one with my head lights. Reflectors stock, but painted black underneath for a "tinted" look. :-)

Caravanshaka 07-05-2009 01:20 PM

Thanks for the clarification DIGI. :)

SargeZ33 07-05-2009 01:39 PM

Great job!!!! Props to have the balls to do it yourself.

AK370Z 07-05-2009 04:17 PM

JOB well done! You did a fantastic job! I don't think I have the courage to EVER drill into my headlights... I just simply don't...

And this is why CiNcity and 180 customs stay in business

tvfreakazoid 07-07-2009 04:27 AM

How much did cincity charged you?
How well is holding up?
Are the led's as good as the audi's?
PICS?
Last question here, do you have to turn it on your self or does it turn on and off automatically when you start your car and shut your car down? I think the audi's stays on until you shut off the car.

plain sick

your organization and detailed step by step with quick view attachments are a god send. I am currently building up the ball sack to attempt this. I definately will be asking for your help on the wiring harness. I just hope we dont see these things popping up in every car.

Caravanshaka 07-11-2009 01:39 PM

Thanks, I'm hoping it proves useful for people here on the forum.

I personally think it wouldn't be too bad if they were on a lot of Z's. While it may take away a little bit if the unique-ness, it still grabs a ton of attention on the road, which is awesome. I can't even count how many thumbs-up and compliments I have gotten with them, not to mention the people that break their necks trying to see it for longer :)

Diversion 07-11-2009 01:41 PM

Wow, blacked out headlights look SOOOOO at home on our Z's.. would have made a lot more sense for them to do at the factory!

Caravanshaka 08-01-2009 12:40 AM

first page updated with video
