Taillights Not Lighting Up

Hey guys. Just picked up my nismo 370Z and the license plate bulbs went out. After awhile when one of the bulbs went out, I realized that my taillights were not lighting up. What do you guys think is the problem? Thanks

Check the fuses for one and be sure that the bulb you replaced is of the same type as the original for starters

I made sure it was a 194 bulb. But where is the fuse box on the Z? and which fuse? Thanks

How do I know if the fuse is blown out? I don't have a voltage tester.

If it is an open fuse then just pull it out and see the inside and if you see the small thin wire connecting the two ends is broken then the fuse is blown. Similarly if it a small tubular bulb fuse also you can see if the filament inside is connected or broken and if it is broken then the fuse is blown.

1 is fuse unbroken. 2 is broken fuse

Guys, how do you remove the fuse box behind the battery? I need to get to the tail lamp fuse and replace it.

For future reference to get to this fuse:

It's in the fusebox that is located to the left of the battery on the inner fender sidewall. You can attempt to remove the fusebox without taking the battery out (and maybe the plastic outer cover that sits over the battery area).

There are plastic clips on each side of the fusebox that are held in place in/on bare metal brackets. Release the clips from the metal brackets; then pull the fusebox straight up and out of that bracket holder. You then need to remove the fusebox cover, which first releases from the bottom.

Hopefully this will Help

remove the battery cover(the thing most ppl buy in carbon fiber) and then there is a tab you press in on the back of the fuse panel. it then comes out with plenty of wire to let you get full access to it. i had to find this out the hard way when i put led's in the license plates and blew the fuses.

Thank you sir! Is there a separate fuse for the license plate bulbs? Also, does the Z come with spare fuses? Thanks

johncy2000 09-12-2012 10:13 AM

I found spare fuses in under the kick panel. I replaced the taillight fuse and it still does not work. What do I do now? Could it be the electronic control module? I still have my reverse lights and brake lights but no running lights for the tails.

Stupid question but are the lights switched to ON or AUTO (when it is dark). Are the headlights working?

If you changed the fuse and nothing was resolved, take it to Nissan... you're likely still under warranty.

Another thing I would like to ask is, do you have LED bulbs on the license plate lights or LED reverse light?
