Replacing Stock Door Panel (Suede)

You guys, I bought my car used and it's pretty much flawless. The only thing that ever bothered me was a like, scratched "line" in the armrest suede on the driver's side door. No matter which way the suede lays, the line is visible and it's simply annoying for someone like me who keeps their stuff impeccable. Does anyone know where I could perhaps re-buy the stock piece? I'm assuming I'd have to go to the dealer and ask them, but I figured I'd ask here first.

I went here: 2012 Nissan 370z Coupe OEM Parts - Nissan USA eStore

But, it doesn't seem like there's a label for the actual suede piece.

Looks like you'll have to get the whole thing... not cheap:

I've had my care for a little over 3.5 years now and the door fillet on the drivers side is fairly worn. The passenger side isn't quite as bad, but even infrequent use has taken its toll. I was thinking of either taking the piece to be recovered in a leather that matches the seat (Touring) or getting the thing wrapped in a matte carbon fibber. The latter doesn't sound as comfortable, but whatever.

If you guys need a cheaper solution let me know. I have the hook up with JPM coachworks and can get you discounted pricing on getting your parts recovered.

Let us know what kind of material you want to use. EX: leather, alcantara, suede, cloth.. also you can let us know what color stitching you would like to use. Several customers have the stitching match the color of their 370z... PM me and I can see what we can do for you. :)

It'll be nice to do suede or alcantara wrap for the door inserts (mine is base). I haven't separated it from the door finisher. Is it pretty straight forward?

there are about 20 phillip head screws that separate the insert from the panel. You could put the panel back on while you wait for the inserts, which will allow you to drive your case. YOu can still open the doors and unlock them with no panels just have to pull on a cable lol.

Of course dont forget, we can also do them in carbon fiber and fiber glass as well :)

Well, it's not something that would be done RIGHT now, but definitely in the future. I'd want 100% stock Nissan materials, and for matching sake, I'd probably have to send you both of my inserts (even though I only need the one), which would cost more dough. That's why I was looking directly into Nissan parts.

I've seen your work, it's top notch. But if it's even the slightest off, it would bother me. Unless you have the exact material they use? Either way, I appreciate the response :tiphat:

I don't believe that the suede on the door inserts, in that form (solid) is found anywhere else in the interior, so matching other parts of the interior isn't an issue. Replacing it with the same stuff guarantees you will be doing it again in a couple years.

You have to remember, when the bean counters (accountants) at Nissan win, we get cheap stuff. Just because it's OEM doesn't mean it's better, otherwise we wouldn't modify anything on our car but just keep replacing stock parts.

Here are some other places they skimped that you probably wouldn't take issue with replacing with non-Nissan parts:

1. The exhaust is too quiet and chokes the engine at high rpm, but Nissan thinks the car won't sell if it is louder than stock (we lose). Also, it's not made of stainless, so it will eventually rust.

2. Most people won't care that their oil cooks during daily driving or drive their car hard enough to notice, so they skimp on an oil cooler (or leave it completely out for a couple years).

They do this to save money. If you want something better, get something better. If not, then the dealership and Nissan will gladly take your money.
