Carbon Fiber Hood + Hatch

So when bullitt dropps his car off we will also be making a CF hood (oem and if possible a vented one) And a hatch.

Yes the parts are made from aluminum but aluminum is not lighter or close to as light as carbon fiber or even fiber glass.

Since we are for sure making these two parts who would like to get in line? The hood and hatch should be around $700 - $800.

This is all we are making for the time being.

hood, hatch, fenders, roof, spoiler, and some overlays. If these few items go well we will progress to lip kits and more parts. :happydance:

I agree 100% with RCZ about the wins and fails. The supra, and GTR hood look great, if the style is anything like that I'm deff down

Vented hoods look great and hopefully somewhat functional.....but what is with this chicken wire used in the openings ( so very cheap looking ) enough so, it puts me right off.

Something I've been wondering about these vents...

How do you prevent dirt and grime from getting in the engine bay with all the vents?

Endgame 06-25-2009 08:30 AM

Will you need hood pins for these hoods or will they latch up just as the stock ones??

Later on after the major mods, i would be interested in the OEM hood if it latches up like stock...

SpawnAeroJohn 06-25-2009 08:37 AM

It may latch up to the stock it depends on the design of the hood and if the hood latch is able to be purchased from the dealer. If we have to create a new hood latch that would cost thousands so then hood pins might be the better way to go. THats somthing we have to see after the hood is created.

Although hood pins are recomended.

These kinda hood pins.

The biggest thing for me on all these threads, is that without actual (or at least reasonably approximated) weight data, it's tough to make a decision on whether I would do it or not. If I can see the actual numbers (Shed X pounds from a given area of the car for Y dollars) it's easier to know whether the mod is worth it for me.

SpawnAeroJohn 06-25-2009 10:42 AM

We will have the numbers after the products are made.

DJcuetip 06-26-2009 02:37 AM

how much just for the hood/

SpawnAeroJohn 06-26-2009 08:04 AM

The price of the hood would be $700 - $800 for OEM and maybe a little more if its vented like the supra above.

also another one that agrees with RCZ with the Win and Fails

black09Z 06-26-2009 05:34 PM
