Please help with splash guard question
Hows the fit on the front splash guards on your 370Z,,,. I just had the dealer install a set on my new 370 and there are 1/4 gaps 3 inches back on the top side,,you can wiggle them in and out with your little finger even though they are tight at the contact points, this cant be right,,. Not sure if I should go for an adjustment or a total removal,,. Please help?

They should be flush and snug no gap. Thanks 1st,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
That's what I would have thought,,,,I've never actually looked at a Z with them on,,. They ended up with the wrong ones for the back so I need to return to the dealer anyway,,. Having looked at the fronts a little closer Im starting to question the design even with an impoved fit,,,,,,,,,,, will they becomes a collection point for debris and grime and an eventual corrosion problem,,. I'm interested in hearing what others who have them think of the fit and design and will the back ones be a further problem,,. Maybe its not to late to cut and run!! |

Err my 2009 base was the first RWD car I had ever driven and as a result, I bought no less than 3 sets of pre-painted splash guards from the Z store.
They're easy as hell to install yourself even without a jack or any sort of mechanical know-how. They always sat flush with no gap so something is clearly wrong.

dmhenderson thanks for that info,,,. Original plan was to do them myself but I couldnt get the drill under the rocker panel (not enuff clearance) to drill out the revet,,. I had a schedualed oil change so Nissan was going to install all four for 1/2 hour labour when it was on the hoist,,. Any way they said they will adjust them for me,,,I just wanted to confirm that they do fit tight when done properly,,.

Hey Lag: you are absolutely right about the procedure if you go strictly by Nissan's step by step instructions. I am sure you can find other ways to install it without the need to jack up your car. But according to Nissans's instructions, you have to drill holes underneath for the rivets and the car is so low you cannot get to it without jacking up the car using a lift. However, fitment should be completely flush mounted and should not wiggle at all. If it does, the installing was done incorrectly and you have to take it back to the shop.

Thanks,,,,Ya Nissan has re-adjusted the fronts and have the gap down to 1/32 of an inch,,,im going to play around with them myself and see what I can do,,. Probable not that noticeable however they can still collect grime ect,,,,I would like to see a second car with them on for comparison,,.
