Default windshield=fail

normally i install a 5 panel wink mirror in any car i own which sometimes requires drilling into the inner roof metal.i wasnt going to do this to this car regardless.so i decided to get a wide view clip on that simply goes over the factory mirror.had it on there for about 2 weeks.then i had my tint redone to a darker tint including the strip across the windshield.it looked really good.so i adjusted it and drove home.

got out of the car looking for possible bubbles in the tint as soon as i got home and noticed what looked like to be a big bubble where the rearview mirror is glued on from factory.i get back in the car with a credit card to get them out not realizing it was broken glass.i barely moved it and it came off taking a good chunk of glass with it. WTF !!.

so i had my insurance cover it and had a new one installed last thursday.so before i put the mirror back on this time,i had the glare strip put back on free of charge(great guy).the metal piece that holds the mirror on was already on the glass when the glass man showed up.so anyway,i put the mirror back on very carefully wondering if its going to break as well.no,it did not break but this morning i get in the car and notice my rearview is in the floor ftl.it came clean off the glue and didnt take any glass with it this time thank god.

now i have had it and will not take anymore chances with the rearview mirror breaking my windshield.so i decided to go get another wink 5 panel mirror to see if i could make it work in this car.luckily,i was able to utilize the sunvisor screws to mount the brackets that holds the mirror up.only down fall is i have to leave the sun visors up towards the glass but they will come straight down to block any sun.i spent the better part of today installing it.i wish i could have put it closer to the windshield but the only way to do that is to eliminate the visors.end rant.this has to be the softest glass i have ever seen

So wait, what's the point of a wink mirror or a wide angle mirror? The stock one should be more than adequate to cover all of the "blind spots". You end up seeing more interior plastic with one anyways.

Blind spot elemination idea

I have a wide mirror clipped onto the stock one just to make me feel more comfortable, it doesn't help with visibility at all though lol. I can't possibly imagine what the wink mirror could do other than let you see more of the trunk because you're not going to be able to see much of those small side windows. The stock rear view mirror also shows the entire view out the back hatch glass too

lol.would rather have kept the clip on.even though both mirrors, wink and the clip on,provide more view,i dont want to have to worry about the windshield breaking again plus the wink is totally reversable

edit;and btw,i actually see more road than interior believe it or not.
