Intellegent Key Port

Anyone find it Yet? Great place to put your fob.

Forrest 06-17-2009 04:44 PM

doesnt the car lock it self after 2 minutes? wether the fob is in the car or not.

If thats true sounds like a horrible place for me to lock my keys into the car.

pocket only for me.

Mergnthwirker 06-17-2009 04:46 PM

Car won't lock with the "intelligent" key inside. No problem that way.

Also it's useful to know that if the battery inside the key dies, the only way to start the car is to have the intelligent key in the port. Might save you from being stranded sometime, clutching the (useless) key and swearing at the car...

Is this true? Didn't remember seeing that in the owners manual....... locks itself after 2 minutes?

Not been my experience...

I leave my car unlocked in the garage (bad habit, I know), it does NOT lock itself.

That was one thing on my "wish list"................ the ability to program the locking system to automatically lock the vihicle when the fob was outside the car and exited range, you could just park, walk away to your destination and the car automatically lock.

Do you mean that it can do it, just you have to program it to?

No, I mean I "wish" the system had that ability programmed into it.

Forrest, I've had the same happen while in the car with the doors closed at first I was wtf! but could not remember what if anything I was doing to that would make the doors to auto lock by themselves being parked. I hope it's not some glitch.

Actually you can lock the car with the key inside but it isn't an issue because you can also unlock it because the ability to lock/unlock is based on proximity. With the key inside, it's plenty close enough to work. LOL. BTW, I know this is true because one time my key slipped out of my pocket and slid between seat and console. I realized I didn't have the key on me after I locked the car and started to walk away. I knew I had just driven the car so the key had to be either on the ground near the car or inside it. Touched the access button and, voila, the door unlocked.
