Amuse front underside?
Does anybody have a picture of the underside of the Amuse front bumper?
I'm a new owner of an '09 and am absolutely loving the car. I've finally gotten to the point to where I am working on correcting the few flaws I either didn't notice or (subconsciously chose to ignore) before the deal was done. One of the problems is the amuse bumper doesn't fit perfectly with the front fenders. There is a little bit of an uneven gap (more so on the passenger side). On my car, the bottom most part of the splash guard (fender protector or whatever it is called) is stretched underneath the amuse underside, where I know on the OEM bumper it is tucked inside. The person who did the install even made their own holes securing it with sheet metal screws. It seems like it would make more sense for this part to be tucked inside the amuse front, but I'm not seeing how this would work either. I guess I might need to take the whole thing off, slide put it back on with the splash guards properly in place and hope I can re-attach everything while correcting the gap issue, but I'd like to avoid doing so if possible, and pics of a proper install would help! |

Thanks guys. It is the shine rep and it was on the car when I purchased it. I didn't notice fitment issues until cleaning up the car the next day (probably not too noticeable to anyone but me.)
Anyways, after finding all the screws that were added I got the fender liner off. I can see now it won't tuck under, especially with the injen intake pretty much touching the front underside. It looks like simply removing the tucked part may be what is needed. Unfortunately I noticed another problem: the intake tube is rubbing the splash guard and actually on the way to wearing two holes in the metal tube. I am also still lost on correcting the fitment and am pretty sure I won't be able to find anyone local with experience with this. Definitely feel like I opened a can of worms at this point. |

Gap on the driver side:
And on the passenger side: Fender liner attached o passenger side (currently removed on driver side): Driver side intake rubbing: I'm not too worried about the fender liners but a description of how they are modified when you guys install the kit would be helpful and appreciated. I'd really like to correct the gap and prevent rubbing on the intake tubes. Those gouges are deeper than they look and I'm sure would become holes soon enough if something isn't done. |

Not sure on the amuse, but on the stock bumper when it is sticking out like that you just need to push it back in. Or maybe take the screw out that is in the fender liner (one on each side) and push the bumper back in and put the two screws back.

Unfortunately it isn't just pushing back into place. The screw (10mm bolt in step 2 from the DIY guide) is the only thing I see securing the bumper directly to the fender, but the screw is tight, and the fiberglass kind of bends a bit to create the gap. It isn't loose, and it actually takes a bit of force to push it to where the gap isn't noticeable (but no way to secure it.)

Finally found some locals that may be able to help me. Too bad I kind of got in over my head with this. Still, could anyone with the Amuse front could show how the fender liners should be properly modified and attached?

No offense taken. It's how I bought the car! Although I don't remember it being this apparent when I first looked at it. It's just one of the flaws I need to correct.

I had to cut off the piece they seem to have screwed to the bottom. It will not fit into the bumper like it does to the factory one. I spent hours trying to make it work because I did not want water to get in the bumper. After hours of fighting and going over what could happen if water got in that small section, anyway as I said in the first sentence I cut it.
As far as the gap between the fender and bumper, you need to refit everything. I have a similar problem with the right rear bumper it kind of curls into the fender. It isnt bad enough that anyone notices but me though.
