Interior pretty easy to disassemble!

Nice having access to a lift!

Filed down corner for Reverse!

Installation completed!

Here is a photo to show engraving!

I made a boot tie down from a faucet spacer and zip ties. This allowed me to shorten the boot slightly & allowed for lowest knob location on the shaft.
Here is the boot stretched in reverse.


My goal was an OEM look! The short shifter shifts just like an R8 (which is gated) but shorter throws. Very happy with both products!!
The shift knob is TWMPerformance Type R satin finish engraved (currently on sale).

That's a nice knob....quite heavy and looks good.

Just FYI, for a cheaper alternative, the greddy counter-weighted knob has good weight and decently priced.

The filing was the only part that sucked, but once that is done it is pretty easy. My only thing I have left to do with mine is I did not re-use the spring and aluminum bracket from the stock unit and after a few weeks without it I want it back.

I reused the spring but stretched it slightly for more force! The weighted shift knob feels like it helps with the vibration in the shifter also!

how did you fasten the boot down with this new knob. I'm looking at the same one and wanted to see if your boot is secure... and how you did it. Zip ties?

EXACTLY! I took three zip ties and made a fastener just like the stock fastener with the boot ends pulled through and tightened it down to the smaller shaft diameter. Took a little patience but simple and cheap.

I used a rubber bushing about the same diameter as the shaft. Also a Redline (real) leather boot with the smaller hole made it all come together:

Yep, Same idea here with a plumbers faucet spacer along with the zip ties!

I plan on doing something different with my interior so held off on the after market boot.

I've looked and looked, but I can't find an aftermarket shift knob for the 7AT. Do any of you know where I could find one?

Sweet nice short and stuby shifter. Just the way I like it. How's the grip during shifting? I too have a metal shift knob in my shifter and when it's hot that thing burns the heck out of my hand so have to wait a few minutes before I drive off. Hope you have a sunshade.

I learned also to use a sunshade. Before I had a sunshade I put a small sock on it. Now I'm dealing with the cold metal with the few cold days we get here in Atlanta. (no big deal though)
The Satin finish feels nice!!
