Rear hatch problems
 

When I push the button to open the rear hatch it opens, but when I try to lift the door open it stays locked. I have the hold the button down while lifting the hatch I order to open it. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I go about fixing this?

^ yes its a huge known issue, do a search on the forum. There is a service bullitin for it too for free fix.

Lots of people have this problem... all you had to do was search.

It requires replacing the rear hatch springs... they are covered under warranty. If you are out of warranty I believe they are just under $100 but they are very easy to install and will solve your problem. Some people also have success putting washers under the spring to add some lift as well.

The service bulletin doesn't give a free fix but it explains the problem to the dealerships. I don't think that is something they will fix for free out of warranty, but they might be persuaded since it is a known issue. I think tjlazer meant there is a DIY for a free fix which is the washer trick.

I got mine replaced under the tsb/warranty and it is still hit or miss. Add some pennies inside the spring boot (or washers) and that will do the trick.

yah, you have to take the entire trunk apart along with the hood and headlights to fix.
