plastic underbody shield question...

I am going to try to explain this the best I can...

The plastic under body sheilding that you have to remove during oil changes has 2 parts the biggest piece and then a smaller piece held on by 8 clips...

Anyway I was driving and hit a dead animal in the road and it pulled that piece held on with 8 clips off, it seems almost unnecessary and I am wondering how important it is and whether or not I should bother replacing it...?

it'll increase drag, and it'll slightly lower your mpg.

isn't that part around 900?

JAYNO20 05-08-2012 02:33 PM

900.00?!

I think you are talking about the full plastic shield. The one held on by 16 screws and what not. I am talking about the one that is held on to that piece with 8 clips.

I think if Nissan felt it was completley useless, they wouldn't have wasted the money to manufature the part to put there. Call the dealer and ask them how much a replacement would be.

That's what I was thinking... problem is I have no idea what I'm asking for... any idea what the part number is or what its even called?

I would replace it but with something better. The OEM replacement for the NISMO is around 1000.

In that diagram the piece I am talking about is the 75895. Is that a nismo only thing?

Yep. That is a metal strip if I remember correctly, I don't know the price of it individually. 74811 (The large piece of plastic) is about $1000 and has a tendency to fall off.

Its plastic, and in that thread people imply its useless and even the upgraded zspeed one doesn't have one on it so I think ill be leaving it off....

I think I recently replaced the part you are talking about. Its not that expensive.. about $100. It is the under engine splash guard. While it is not absolutely essential, it certainly does protect the engine.

I purchased it from Nissanpartszone.com and the part number is 75892-1EA0A.

from the read, the bottom cover provides structrual strength for the front bumper cover... i would buy a replacement or go aftermarket.... or even fabricate one.

Get the Z Speed one, it is definitely worth it and it makes your bumper alot more rigid and secure
