Factory gauge cluster shift light wiring
Hey guys,
Anyone know if the shift light on the 370 is part of the gauge cluster or is the signal coming from an ECU of some sort? I personally can't stand the light and would like to use a buzzer instead. I just want to see how much work is involved in it |
Sounds like very involved work. I believe the light is just part of the gauge cluster.

the cluster is all one piece. you would have to do some serious surgery to go in there and remove the connections on the circuit board in order to prevent the light from coming on. Best advice is to have your car tunned and have the rev limit raised up which will prevent it from coming on sooner. But to answer your question the signal to the best of my knowledge comes from the brain of the car to the guage cluster.

I think the ECU sends the RPM signal, but the light is actually within gauge cluster, which sucks because you cant just tab a wire and turn it into a buzzer

One way I can think of is to disassemble the gauge cluster to get to the LED, desolder it, and then solder thin wire wrap to the +/- pads. Then you can rig it to a buzzer circuit.
