The tape is coming off....

The door handles would likely look good, however you wouldn't be able to use plastidip for that - as its a moving part. The Friction from the handle being used would peel it off. You'd have to actually paint them or order black ones.

I'll probably do the emblems this weekend as it only takes 2 hours to do

Thats the best part about the tape! dont like it? GONE! hahahahah

I'll be picking up a few new handles to have painted KAV this week. Painted the body color, the handles just disappear into the car. It really makes it look so much better w/o the bright silver!

Who are you having paint them? Dealers won't do it will they? Curious how long it would take an autobody shop to order KAV paint.

I'd be really interested to see them painted body color vs. black

xdeslitx has had a body shop down here in SoCal do his handles and a bumper in KAV. So i was going to find out what place he went to since they already have the paint. I think i remembered him saying that it took a week or two for the shop to get the paint from Nissan. But i think any good body shop can match the paint too.

I'm sure a dealer would paint them for your. but you'll pay extra. All they are going to do is charge you for them to outsource it. Might as well go directly to the body shop.

I don't have any links to black handles on our paint color... but here is body color matched handles.... Paint 40th door handles to match rims?

looks amazing to me.

That does look good! I really like how the door handles look on their own, but with our color it would be nice to make them match or go black.

The emblems I'm not sure about, I kinda like how the silver makes them "pop" but at the same time black could look really good. I'm definitely going to plasti them as the time it takes isn't long. The fangs and rear valence took longer since taping them take a while where as with the logos you simply put a square around them and spray it.

That is an amazing meet-up! I'm impressed. 8 370z would be impressive to me, but 8 40ths! Not sure if you noticed, but the Z with the plastidip'd emblems also has plastidip fangs... and there definitely seems to be more contrast then in my photos. Looks good!

Not a big fan of the black emblems (at least not on the front). I think its because the headlight housings are so bright, if those were painted too it would tie it all together nicely.

Also, I love the chin spoiler on that one 40th, so sexy! I would definitely be interested in adding one of those soon.

I didn't even notice it when i copied the link, But now i remember seeing it in person. And i think your right about needing the chrome to flow with the headlights.

That's xdeslitx. That's the bumper and Bomex front lip and handles he had painted.

The red wheel stripes are starting to grow on me. They look really good from far away when you cant tell the color is a bit off from the brake caliper.

I might leave them on now

Good to know. I dig it on your car. I think if you end up wanting to keep it; have a body shop match the caliper color and pinstripe it in paint. It'll be more legit that way. and you can have it the exact thickness and color that you want.

How do you do plastidipping is it any different from having it painted with a paint canister? Do you need to take off the whole front bumper with plastidip?

It's just like spray painting. No need to remove the front bumper, just tape it off similar to what you see here: http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...out-fangs.html
*Note you don't have to get as extreme with covering the car as the guy did in the above thread, the plastidip can be removed if you mess up and can be easily wiped off before it drys. I did a 12" protection barrier surrounding the spray area, the one in the thread is like 24"+

What brand of paint did you use? Did you use a clear paint also? thanks for the reply. Im still contemplating whether to use a vinyl rap or have it spray painted.

Painted mine last year and still looking good, use a primer, your choice of black(gloss/matte), prep properly and take your time, the link provided is a good DIY too

I used black plastidip, its sprayable rubber (which can be removed). I didn't want something permanent so I could return to stock if I wanted to later on. I'd highly recommend it. $8 a can, most hardware stores carry it. THey do make a clear-coat plastidip you can spray on over the black, but I wasn't sure if I wanted mine to be shiny. I might try it out later on though.

O&G - your actual paint looks great! Much more contrast than the plastidip seems to offer. Thanks for posting those pics!
