Hardwire BOTH radar detector AND dashcam to mirror?
2 Attachment(s)
Is it possible to hardwire both a radar detector and a dashcam to the powered mirror? Would the mirror provide enough power?
I'd like to resurrect this thread from the dead.
i would like to do that to mine but what type of camera is that?

I've never heard of them but I would think that the power going to the mirror would do just fine
Sorry to bump a dead thread, but anyone done this before?
I haven't. But I did run the cable to my battery, not difficult at all. And you don't mess with your mirror ;)
All depends on the amount of juice that the cable your tapping into provides. If your load exceeds it then no you cant, if not then you can.

wow old thread. my passport 9500ix is hardwired, along with my G1W-C. 9500ix is hardwired to the cigarette lighter fuse on the driver side fuse panel and the G1W-C is hardwired to one of the 12V constant's in the passenger side kick panel (forgot the wire but you can find it on the12volt.com). as for hardwiring it to the rearview mirror, its probably possible to daisy chain it, since the fuse should be 10-15A, forget exactly, but why not just run a longer wire down one of the A pillar's and do it correctly?
how much does the dashcam pull? if its no more than 500mA or something, im sure the cables can handle it. start there.

Sorry to re-revive this, how would I hard-wire the dash cam? Thinking of the G1W-C

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o01_s00 I tapped into the cigarette lighter power under the glovebox for ACC power and the 12V source in the big 3'pin harness on the passenger's kick panel area for constant 12V. Used one of the grounded screws in that area for ground. Wiring diagram that helped me find the 12V source: http://www.liquidc4.net/files/DEI_2009_Nissan_370Z.pdf |
