LOOKING GOOD!
I have learned my lessons as well. I had a similar experience years ago. I had to fight to have my insurance to have it fixed at a different body shop after some shady work was done. Ever since, I have to make sure and let the shops know that I take pride in my ride and I will make sure the work they do is proper, and if it is not I will be returning to make sure they get it right. I am not some little old lady who doesn't care if they do a good job or not. I always do a walk around on the car also, to make sure they see that the car is in good shape before they touch it! Even when getting new tires! I think that most people let stuff slide and these body shops get complacent and do crappy work. They need to learn their lessons.

I get in 3 times of accidents and always bring it to the dealer's body shop or dealer's recommendation body shop. The good thing about them is when u bring back your car and they honor to fix it for u. No question if they see what u point out and unacceptable. So guys. Whatever happens. Don't listen to random body shops. They might offer like take care of your deductible or whatever. But they do some crap work and don't care about your car. But I'm glad for James that everything work out for u buddy! Don't blame yourself. No one expected they like that. Just don't ever go back to that shop anymore.

Its probably still best if you just sell or trade the car off on something else.
What did they do to correct all the drywall screws put into the rocker panel area. This area should have been spot welded in place and properly sealed. Once area is properly fixed the repair should be undetectable. From the pictures it looks like they just hammered in the screw areas and then used bondo and resprayed them. Since you live in a very damp state and driving the car in the rain or left in a moisture will tend to cause rust around every screw they put in the panels and then the paint will blister and lift. You should have really settled for more than a $1000 for this case and had another professional shop do the work correctly. Before you have a body shop do any work you need to make sure that they have enough professional tools and experienced body shop workers. Make sure you see some shop guys that are at least in there late 20's and 30 and up. If you see a lot of young kids take your car and run. Ask for a tour showing the following tools, if they don't have one of these items, most likely they are hacks. 1. professional down draft paint booth separate from body shop area, note you can't paint a car in the same building where body work is done, ( to much dust etc.) 2. Welders- spot welders, oxy/acc, mig welders etc. 3. frame straightening machine. 4. Electric Weld on dent pullers, if they say they drill holes, to pull dents than run. Listed above are the basics for any body shops, anyless and they are not professionals. Last edited by gsxr750; 05-12-2012 at 05:37 PM. |

Kinda...
Well I check my car and match perfectly on the latest pictures. And I don't think random body shops can do it or match it like oem. Well in my mind the shop might bring it to the dealer and let the dealer fix it for James if that's true then should be perfectly fine... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Huan Huynh. |
