Default No Key warning

So I just got my nismo last week and decided to run a test on this no key warning light.
Car was started with key in my pocket - no warning light
Drove the car around- no warning light
I step out of the car walk 15 ft away - warning light on
My brother in law drives my car away about 10 blocks with warning light on and he is able to drive it .
Does the car at some point shut off ?
Can the car get stolen if it's on and I'm away from the car with key in my pocket ?

The car will not turn off even if the key is not in proximity of the car. It's a safety issue if the car can turn off like that. And yes, you car will be stolen.

Some cars (I think Mini does) have a certain range that the car then shuts off. Like 100 ft. or something.

This is more so a warning for YOU to alarm you that your key is not in the car. Imagine it did not exist, you turn your car on in the morning and forget something in the house and accidentally leave the key in the house, then you drive to work. Guess what happens when you need to go home?

EDit: why would you leave a running car anywhere regardless of security features...especially a nismo Z?
