TricPlate?

Hey just curious to know what everyone thinks about this

Tric Plate Stealth License Plate

would you buy it? not buy it? Has anyone on the site bought it before or know of anyone who has bought it?

I don't have a need for anything like that, but if you do... Then go for it!

When I was young (like 8-10 yrs old) I dreamed up a way to switch 2 license plates, like I'd seen on some movie. A few years later I built a crudely working prototype. If I had any reason to, I know I could come up with a really rad solution that works just as well as that link, and is way cooler.

are you planning to run from the cops in the future? if so by all means a great idea!

I am pretty sure that I heard if you are caught with a device meant to hide your plate, it is a pretty major offense... just going from memory though.

In Cali your not allowed to put anything over your plate. I installed a plate frame with a plastic cover over it to make it easier to clean and was pulled over with all my work associates in the car and ticketed. Never heard the last of it..... :-(

At the time it was just a fix it ticket. Now, I believe there is a heavy fine comes with the ticket. This is because of speedcams and radar. I also hear that they are giving a lot more tickets for front plate missing this year from my friends that are officers because of the automated ticketing systems and their bosses getting after them for those cars that do not have them. I'll take my fine on the vette and the bird. However, the Z doesn't look too bad with a plate on so I have one on there now. Plus, it is my daily driver deep into Popoland at least three days a week.

The plate is just tacked on the there with black cable ties that I can cut for car shows and such...

Legal or not it's a good bet that you'll get pulled over regardless of weather or not your doing anything wrong.

Liquid_G 03-22-2012 10:53 AM

Cool idea I guess, but that screams "pull me over"

Hmm....they market it for car shows. My $2.00 Craftsman screw driver can accomplish the same thing in about two minutes tops.

if you're just doing that for photo shoots, do wat i did. get some black hard felt, cut to size, and put thin magnetic strips on them to attach to your frame.

ive accidentally tested it up to expressway speeds and it did not come off. lol :D yah, forgot to take them off after photoshoot. i was like  when i got home. hahaha. check out my albums pages for the picts with black felt covers.

i use to think that too, but in reality they are doing their job. but like everything there is an exception. There are those cops who abuse their authority, then there are the ones who are simply upholding the law. it depends what kind of cop you get.
