Nice!

Cant wait to see what it looks like with the new wing

Ive been thinking about doing more aero.. but i need to focus. Im behind on my FI goals :shakes head:

Love the old TT 300zx i see there! My father had the NA 300zx from 1992-2009, when i purchased mine right after he sold his!

Verbal21 04-18-2012 11:45 PM

Can't wait to see your wing installed, TJ.

And does anybody happen to have a template for this wing? I'm gonna be installing mine soon and I'm nervous as hell without one right now.

Nitex 04-19-2012 09:46 PM

Shop called this afternoon. They claim to have had issues removing all the double sided sticky from the stock spoiler and have some tool marks (scratches) that they want to fix.

Also they say that the EVO-R wing does not completely cover the old outline of the stock spoiler. And its obvious where the old spoiler was removed. So they need to clean that up.

Long story longer i may not get my car until Monday now. I told them i had a car show on Saturday but its my fault i pushed everything so close, so don't rush its ok.

Humm... it should cover the stock spoiler all the way.

no it doesn't... i mean it does cover the holes.. but the way the stock sport spoiler is shaped is comes down a bit further than the high wing, the nismo wing is the same it doesn't fit the same way as the stock spoiler, but it does cover all the holes

but the holes are on the center edage, does not go foward to the front tips

i know.. but the spoiler it self has tape and it probably left marks that the high wing does not cover... what the body wants to do is fix the hatch where the marks are... the high wing fits, but it doesn't completely cover the outline of the stock spoiler. Mine had light scratches on the hatch from when the body shop took the stock spoiler off... they where able to buff it out.

They had issues with mine as well. They had a very hard time removing the Sport Spoiler and they ended up snapping it in half trying to take it off! It ended up scratching the hatch so they had to repaint the hatch. It's been in the shop since Wed, should be done today!

Yeah I highly recommend you have a shop do the install.

yea... very big PITA

tjlazer 04-20-2012 12:16 PM

Don't know why the hell Nissan has so many snaps and bolts holding the Sport spoiler down. It's so small. Why do they think it's going to come off easily? Two bolts and double sided tape would be enough to hold it down. Amazing.

Nitex 04-20-2012 12:18 PM

Great info guys, ill pass it on to the shop that they are not alone!

Looking great TJ mine may be done today as well. Waiting to hear back from the shop right now.

No kidding, wish they would have put some of that effort into fixing oil cooling or brake fade.. :shakes head:

Nitex 04-20-2012 12:44 PM

Ok looks like just the push pin locations need to be filled. They are talking about filling it with some urathane to prevent leaks..

Also noted that the wing doesnt perfectly conform to the slope of the hatch. I think they just need to bolt the thing on instead of just holding it up there.

I put covers with silicone on my holes. The wing conformed better when i tightened all 4 bolts down.

Hey CC, how did you access the outer edge bolt holes in the hatch?

We are thinking about drilling a small access holes to get at the outer attach points.

Quick teaser pic, wont be finished till monday.

I didn't... I just did the 4 main bolts and the rest is all double sided tape

Nitex 04-20-2012 05:42 PM

Hmmmm... i would love to have it attach at those outer points. But maybe its not worth it.

If i did drill 2 access holes in my hatch it would be unnoticeable once the trim went back one. And much more secure i would think.

I have till Monday to decide.

Getting the rear splash guards installed as well, they came in today. Not sold on the fronts guards with out the front lip spoiler, then it just fits.

tjlazer 04-20-2012 10:01 PM

Picked up the Z. I am very happy.

WOW TJ that looks amazing! You have me sold. I'm looking to do a full Nismo Conversion myself and was trying to figure out how the rear spoiler would work, looks like there's a solution. How much was the paint and install?

Nitex 04-20-2012 10:50 PM

^^ Looks great TJ! Definitely a better overall size than the stock nismo. It just fits the nismo rear much better IMO! Also did you attach the outer holes to the wing or just double sided sticky like CC? I was thinking about drilling small access holes in the hatch to attach at those points.

Unfortunately I'm waiting for the shop to repaint my hatch. That's what i get for not being able to get my car in the garage. I high center on my driveway ever since i lowered, and the weather is just ruining my paint. It was obvious when we compared the color under the stock sport spoiler to the surrounding paint :shakes head:

It will cost me a lot to redo my driveway. And I'm not sure what it takes if i have to modify the curb here in WA.

But i really need to get my car in the garage!

LakeShow 04-20-2012 11:14 PM

^^Wait, why are you getting your hatch repainted?

The paint under my stock spoiler was a different shade of PG due to sun damage from being outside for so long. The EVO-R high wing does not completely cover the outline of the old spoiler. Respraying the hatch is just to even out the color where hatch meets up to the EVO-R wing.

We did not bolt it up to see if it would have been tolerable. But a few scratches from removing the old spoiler pushed the decision to respray.

Looks like TJ had the same issue with the scratching.

Thanks, yes I think this looks great with the Nismo body kit. $600 for paint and install.

TJ, any idea if they bolted up the 2 most outer locations? or just the 4 bolts on each side of the brake light.

I payed $600 as well, but they touched up a few rock chips and painted my fangs black.

Also really quick is there a gap between the hatch and wing? Second pic from the bottom looks it may not be flush with the hatch. Could just be the angle and shadow.

tjlazer 04-21-2012 11:41 AM

There are some gaps on the edges. I don't think they bolted it at the ends.

I feel it may help pull those corners down a bit If I attach the ends.

Nitex 04-24-2012 04:23 PM

Finally installed, the paint work turned out ok. Still needs more low, and more aggressive offsets. But first i need BRAKES!

Quick cell phone pics.. Ill bust out the 60D on a sunny day and get a detail for some better shots.

Thanks everyone! Yes we drilled 2 small holes in the hatch to attach the outer points. Im not sure its required or if it pulled the corners down more than just the tape.

Great pics Nitex!

I can not decide between this or the Amuse... ARGH! My Z is Monterey Blue... I am so torn.

The only other mods I might be doing is blacking fangs/rear, black/darkening wheels and painting calipers.
