Microfiber brand recommendations?
Does anybody have any recommendations for microfiber brands? I don't think all microfiber towels are created equal, so I want only the best for my black Z. Any recommendations for microfiber washing mits would also be great.

True that, bulk microfiber towels I bought from Sam's club created swirl marks whereas quality ones I bought are still swirl-free even after multiple washes.

Certainly not the best, but I like the costco MF too. If they're soiled, you can just throw them away when you're done and not let it bother you. Though at my local costco, the MF has been replaced by shamwow....
The cobra MF is good Cobra Edgeless Microfiber Polishing Triple Pack |

100% cotton terry cloth towels? I was under the impression that anything other than microfiber on a black car will cause swirl marks.

theres a few different types. Dont get the crappy walmart ones under the automotive section they feel very harsh in my hands. When you want a 100% cotton towel it has to feel soft to the touch aka a real nice bath towel. Those terry cotton towels at the automtive section feel like crap and are very hard.
I just bought 2 of these (wich means 6 total) and they are the softes towels i ever felt. Zaino Blonde Borderfree Towel: 3 pack: Zaino Store They are kind of small at 16x16 but for my needs of polish removal, applying spray on polish they work great. For quick drying after leaf blower i just use a big normal 100% cotton towel i bought from the bath section at walmart. Quote:

I've always used things like that on my cars w/o any problem. You're going to get slight swirls in your paint over time just be sure to wash and dry in a up and down motion to limit the visability.

Are you saying that the swirls are caused because of the Absorber?

I use it all the time on my black Z. If you use it properly, you should be fine. Clean it after EVERY wash, and make sure to follow the same guidelines that you'd follow when waxing (never dry it in circles, just lightly pull it over the paint in the proper directions - in line with the car for the horizontal parts such as the hood/roof/hatch, and vertically for the other parts like the doors, fenders and quarters). The only scratches on my car are the convenient dealership-installed ones from their shitty *** detailers...

As for will 100% cotton scratch your car? any thing can probably scratch your car but as long as you clean it with liquid tide free of dyes and perfumes and make sure there is no debri's in it you should be fine with cotton. |
